Very cool to see so much from the past and also more modern exhibits as well. There was one on the history of wrestling in Canada that was a great surprise and really cool to check out. Also one on rap music from Canada.

Some beautiful and intriguing modern art displays, though I was expecting more classical art. I can't really understand or appreciate much of modern art!

We stopped at the Chapel on our Walking Food Tour. Our guide Philip gave the history of The Ursuline’s coming to settle in New France (Quebec) building the first school for girls in New France. The church has two sections one for parishioners and at a 90 degree angel for the Cloistered Nuns, where they are not seen. It is a small beautiful church with an ornate altar. The other buildings are coed school today.

We spent four nights here in this very unusual boutique hotel. The location is lovely in the old town and quiet but close to restaurants and other attractions.
The old monastery with a modern addition is wonderful - the design is exceptional. The first two floors house parts of the original monastery and are a museum - tours of the museum are available in French and English and are excellent.
Breakfast is included but taken in silence - continuing the traditions of the order.
Our room on the fourth floor was comfortable - compact but well designed with good reading lights. Comfortable beds but no desk in our room. No TV in keeping with maintaining a restful atmosphere but good wifi.
The only thing that surprised me is that the windows are not to be opened as they are fragile - you have to use the A/C system for ventilation which is a pity as it is a bit noisy.
Staff are helpful - there is also a nice gift shop.
This is an unusual but very tranquil and beautiful place in which to stay.

My friend and I were visiting Quebec and are history buffs and naturally wanted to stop here. The video is well done recounting mainly the French and English conflicts of the 1700s and 1800s. The staff was very friendly and the exhibits about the history are also well done. It is a small place and not too extensive.

Wonderful shop with so many wooden sculptures made local and imported items as well. One of the employees took us on a tour of the artist studio upstairs. Something for everyone here. We left with some gifts for others as well items for ourselves. Beautiful artistry. Nice staff too. This is a historic building in lower town. just beautiful!

It has the most magnificent beautiful pieces of sculpture I have ever seen. I could not afford anything, but a print 8"x 11" of an owl, beautiful.

A lot smaller than we had imagined it would be and a long way out of the centre of Quebec. Good quality food and drink from local producers. Other stalls which sold things other than food and drink were not open.

Interesting museum to understand the history of French in America. Neatly situated in the old seminary compound. No tour when we were there on a Saturday.

Chevalier House (Maison Chevalier) is quite an interesting building. It's an example of the so-called French urban architecture. It belonged to a wealthy shipowner, Jean-Baptiste Chevalier. It is in fact three buildings which date from different periods, from the 1660s to the 1760s! The three buildings were made into one. Today it is a sort of museum but when we visited it was closed.

Visiting the Musee Des Plaines D'Abraham in Quebec City was very interesting. The museum had three floors that confused us to enter the central museum. When we entered, the French-Canadian soldier with a red cap surprised us with his yell and snooped around the colonial French and British army equipment and uniform along with the native belongings. The soldier communicated with us with the use of gestures to explain what happened to General Montcalm with clarity. There was a well- engaged captioned film about the battle story of the Plains of Abraham in the auditorium. Everything read in both English and French - a full accessibility to the tourists. That museum told more historical literature than the high school history textbook read.

Incredibly friendly and fun guide. Lovely to see an old house still standing in an area where all the homes are now businesses or private houses or have been replaced by a new apartment building. Small, interesting home, extremely well kept. Worth the ticket. Tours are given in French and English. The first one to buy a ticket picks the language. We were very lucky, since we don’t speak French, but we’re the only native English speaking people in the (English tour). Thank you to the other six people who were willing to do the tour in English. We did a few other tours, but this cozy little home with the kindest tour guide was my favorite.

When we arrived we were taken through the history of Quebec city by a young man who obviously knows and loves history. This was so much more interesting than reading the material and much more informative. For the other sections, we read the material and looked at the items on display. Not all of it is available in English which is a bit frustrating. We were given cards with English for one room. I don't find reading as satisfying or informative as an oral recounting so I would have prefered being "guided" through the entire museum. :) The guide checked on us partway through to see if we had any questions which was helpful. I am glad that we went and we did learn a lot.

    Ask about the amulets!
