- Eileen108Mount Shasta, CA5,158 contributionsWe went here as part of a cruise ship excursion. It was an amazing waterfall and the entry, gift store, bathrooms were all kept clean and convenient. To be honest, I have seen more impressive waterfalls. I feel visiting a sugar shack in our limited time might have been a more unique experience.Written October 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sanju_222323New Jersey16,818 contributionsQuébec City’s largest urban park—and the site of the famous Battle of the Plains of Abraham—is just across the street. Outside the city walls, to the west of the Citadel, stretches the green expanse known as the Plains of Abraham [also known as Battlefields Park (Parc des Champs-de-Bataille)], where in 1759 the British, led by General Wolfe, fought the French under Montcalm and won. The Battle of Québec (the pivotal moment of the French and Indian War when the French were forced to cede New France to Great Britain) took place here.
The park is also home to the remains of two Martello towers, later additions to Québec's fortifications. Begun in the late 1930s, the Joan of Arc Garden designed by Louis Perron has a fabulous display of flowers from spring until fall.
it is the perfect place to enjoy some fresh air. While you're sure to see a few historical elements (like the occasional ornamental cannon and defensive towers known as Martello Tower), make sure to pay specific attention to the manicured gardens – don't miss the stunning Joan of Arc Garden – and the riverfront vistas.
It’s lovely to see this field on cloudy days. benches are there near Martello Towers, have a seat and admire the beauty of St Lawerence River
Battlefields Park is an outdoor recreational site, right in the heart of the city! In the winter, you can go cross-country skiing or snowshoeing along the groomed trails or go skating on the ice ring. In the summer, the park becomes a popular picnic area.Written September 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There were a couple touch tanks that we spent lots of time at and the staff were knowledgeable/helpful and spoke well, in English. There were a couple small sharks, that my kids thought were coolWritten February 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Miho EHuntington, WV293 contributionsIf you want to relax , away from the tourists, i recommend this park (free of charge). I think the locals jogs, rests, play at the playground, picnic . Plenty shades and tranquility. I really enjoyed the morning.Written July 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jude BGreenwich, CT36 contributionsAs we were driving toward the park, we wondered if we were in the right place. The drive and approach belied the park.
We followed the instruction of another reviewer and didn't park at the first parking lot - this was a genius recommendation.
Once we parked the car we walked to the left facing river which took us to the bottom of several flights of stairs up. My husband was not up to tackling the stairs so we backtracked and continued on to another part of the part that went on for miles along the river. It was a beautiful autumn day, lots of people out and about. Loved the walk...
So when facing the river walk to the left if you're an intrepid walker and to the right if you're up for more of a leisurely stroll - you can't go wrong either way.Written October 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Good mixture of grass, flower beds and statues to look at.Written September 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Karen SSheffield78 contributionsAmazing place, lots of different opportunities to get close to the falls or above them if you prefer. Wasn’t too busy whilst we were there. The cable car was a bit expensive but the gift shop seemed reasonable. - sanju_222323New Jersey16,818 contributionsI think this is lively in winter only. yeah, in summer, there could be street artists or local performances but whatever photos I see on the net, it's all from the winter season. in winter- The ice rink at Place D'Youville is the perfect place to experience Québec City's winter. From mid-November to mid-March, put on skates and enjoy its magical atmosphere.
Situated at one of the busiest intersections in the city, D’Youville Square (Place D’Youville) holds historical significance as a former bustling marketplace that now serves as a lively crossroads, marking the boundary between Old Quebec and Quebec Parliament Hill.
Place D’Youville is a public square in the core of Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. It is situated on rue Saint-Jean, one of the oldest roads in Quebec City. The square is named in honor of Marie-Marguerite d'Youville, a French-Canadian widow who founded the religious order known as the Grey Nuns of Montreal.
It has been a focal point and gathering place for a very long time. It began as the Montcalm public market.Written September 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PeregrineEdmontonEdmonton, Canada270 contributionsThis is a small but lovely botanic garden. It has an amazing peony collection, so a mid-June visit would be amazing. There are areas of old trees, underplanted with large swathes of different colours, or sometimes tiers - eg: hosta in front of solomon seal in front of a flowering shrub. It has one large area of beds with different kinds of plants, showcasing the collection. There is also rose collection and a covered walkway. There are also some sculptural plantings, eg: a large butterfly filled with growing medium and many holes, so that when planted will be butterfly covered with growth. The front of the garden has a pleasant water and rock feature and bird feeders. Today there were goldfinches, chipping sparrows, song sparrows, chickadees, cardinals, downy woodpeckers and a ruby throated hummingbird.Written June 5, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JamesKMTanPetaling Jaya, Malaysia21,576 contributionsI visited this beautiful beach as I was cycling to Montmorency falls. Next to it is a nice wetland with many bird species. There are toilet facilities and some food stalls. The beach is very clean and next to the bike path.Written October 27, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Erica GArlington Heights, IL141 contributionsI really enjoyed this unique experience and it was unlike anything else I've visited before. Apparently, Mosaïcultures Québec isn't as well known as it should be, because a friend of mine who lives not far from Québec City hasn't heard of it (and she has two kids). It was great to walk around and see the beautiful flowers and the music also added a cool element to it.Written February 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - shootingstarbeautyLancaster, PA304 contributionsWe took an informative tour with our family. I learned a lot about Canada’s constitutional monarchy, as well as more about the provincial government. Very impressed that the tour was free & offered in English.Written August 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
