- vhash77North Wilkesboro, NC1,087 contributionsThis is a beautiful National Park. We went during off season, the lighthouse was closed, yet it was still beautiful to walk out to see it. We also drove through the park and was able to see some ponies at a distance, along with a variety of birds. It was a beautiful windy day but worth driving through for scenery. Both visitor centers were closed the day of our visit.Written February 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - urbanguyRichmond, VA5,105 contributionsThis is a review of the Island Nature Trail, which is just across the street from the dog park. There are no dogs allowed on this trail.
The one way distance from the trailhead to the end was 0.5 miles. You park across the street at the dog park. The trail ends just up the street a bit from where you begin the trail (at the Island Nature Trail sign).
For much of the walk, the only "wildlife" were the mosquitoes. But, close to the end of the trail, we came up a large number of birds: white ibis, laughing gulls, snowy egrets, and great egrets. Great watching through the vegetation. As we exited, many of the birds ended up in a ditch parallel to the road. These birds made the walk, and mosquito bites, worthwhile.Written July 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Antique, vintage, collectibles… great experience!Written April 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lacie DEtters, PA12 contributionsCaptain Jon was the perfect guide for our tour. He showed us the highlights as well as some beautiful spaces that wouldn’t be easily navigated by someone who isn’t local. We saw many dolphins and some ponies. Captain Jon had lived in Chincoteague his whole life and is a capable and knowledgeable guide. Book him a year in advance if you want him to take you out on the water for the annual pony penning!Written October 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Wlisa123Springfield, IL7 contributions“Our Chincoteague wild pony cruise was an unforgettable adventure! As we drifted through the calm waters, we spotted several groups of ponies grazing by the shore, close enough to see their distinct colors and markings. Our guide, Hunter, was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the ponies. He even knew their names! He shared fascinating stories about the ponies’ history and the annual roundup. The boat was great, and we got very close to the ponies. We were able to see five different herds. The whole experience was inspiring and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Chincoteague. A must-do for nature lovers!”Written October 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- KSStravelers24 contributionsMy 17 year old daughter and I have been wanting to see the wild horses for many years. We had high expectations and Captain Casey absolutely delivered! He was very knowledgeable and clearly loves the area and has great respect for the wildlife. The boat was clean and comfortable. We saw lots of horses, dolphins and even two bald eagles. It was amazing!Written August 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Hazel L2 contributionsWe had the absolute best time with the jet skis! I wanted a casual relaxed approach to our ride and my daughter had a need for speed. It all worked out and we got the best of both worlds! We saw beautiful birds in the trees and had fun zipping around. We even got to take pictures with Rambo! Best jet ski experience outside of owning them. Once you've owned jet skis, you can never go back to renting and moving in a circle. This was a beautiful ride and Ed was a great guide and owner. Thanks for everything! We plan on coming back!Written September 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
