Access to the fishery was very easy yet the habitat was mature and natural which is a rare combination that made for an enjoyable experience. You can stick to open paths or head for the trees or islands if you feel the fish are being illusive. The trout were free rising and plentiful but not easy to catch.

The lodge is basic but handy for the car park and close to the waters edge. Owner Chris was on hand with first rate advice and kept a decent selection of flies for sale. Hot and cold drinks and a limited selection of snacks were also available.

After a lengthy spell indoors, walked down to the Memorial to stretch my legs
    on a sunny day.

It is a large Celtic cross memorial to commemorate the 77 men from Kilmacolm who perished during WW1 and is situated on a small hill at Duchal Cross.

It serves as a permanent reminder of the terrible cost, and futility of wars.

A beautiful meadow with a mass of wildflowers, grasses, trees and wildlife. A safe place for children to play and learn about nature. A safe and peaceful place to exercise dogs - but please 'pick up' after them - and keep it safe for children. One of the few remaining meadows in this area.

If you're in the area and looking for a good outdoor experience, a walk up Corlic Hill is highly recommended. This route offers a unique opportunity to see wind turbines up close, providing an intriguing perspective on these impressive structures. The walk itself is relatively gentle, making it accessible for most people.

One of the highlights of the hike is the breathtaking panoramic views you can enjoy from the top. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or just looking for a peaceful escape, the scenery is sure to impress. On clear days, you can see for miles, making it a perfect spot for some stunning photos or simply soaking in the beauty of the surroundings.

Practical considerations are well taken care of, with a convenient car park located nearby. This makes the area easily accessible and hassle-free for visitors. Overall, Corlic Hill offers a wonderful combination of natural beauty, modern technology, and easy access, making it a great choice for a day out.
