What travellers are saying
- John CVancouver Island, Canada456 contributionsWell worth the half hour drive from Gold River, part on a firm packed gravel road.
Enjoy the scenery along the way.
The caves are a short walk from the small parking area.
Enjoy the tranquility and sounds of nature.
You are remote, outside cell coverage and in bear country.
The caves are spectacular.
Bring appropriate footwear and flashlights.Written September 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The campground was clean and while everyone was having fun, there were no overly noisy or annoying campers. We had a small tin boat and saw only one other boat the whole time we were there. Not a PWC or jet boat in sight! It is wilderness camping so go prepared! The fishing was good, came home with trout in the freezer. The sites are well spaced and quite private, each with a table and firepit. Firewood was able to be gathered on the beach. It gets windy in the afternoon, so exposed on the beach might not be your best option or take a tarp for a windbreaker. The gravel road to get there is about 15K and better than other island back roads we've travelled. Directions and signage was a little sketchy so make sure you know where you are going and/or have a map. Will definitely return!Written May 30, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jo NB.C.24 contributionsWe were blessed with an amazing experience as well as a kind informative Crew aboard MV Uchuk 111. Laura’s cooking was amazing/plentiful and the best chocolate chip cookies we ever had! We saw a rolly polly black bear foraging on the beach, a Whale, playful Otters, Eagles and Magnificent scenery. We stayed in Kuyuquot over night with a First Nation perspective on Coastal Life, as well as a fun group from the Ship, dining together in a converted School House at two tables, family style dinner and breakfast onboard in the morning. The various stops at fish farms and logging camps were fascinating as we watched the crew unload fish food and supplies. We recommend this excursion and look forward to joining the crew one day soon. Thank you for this delightful experience.Written October 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

I have used this company before for trips to Nootka Island and the Hesquiat Peninsula. They provide first rate service. Both pilots (Scott and Mark) are excellent; very professional and friendly. The office staff (Brittany ) is efficient and extremely accommodating. I would highly recommend using the services of Air Nootka for any backpacking trips in the Gold River area.Written July 14, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
