What travellers are saying
- Travel Gal159 contributionsThis beach is perfect for a relaxing day by the sea, with gentle waves ideal for swimming and a peaceful environment for picnicking. I fondly remember childhood days spent here, building sandcastles and exploring the tidal pools. The surrounding park offers ample space for outdoor activities, and the nearby forests add to its charm.Written August 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CdnMinkManitoba, Canada143 contributionsAlthough not a major attraction tourist wise, this walk through the forest and along the river provides another delicious taste of Van Is outdoors. It doesn't take long when you have other goodies to see but it certainly gives one a good look at some rapids and falls (subdued at present by lower flows)and geology as well as a taste of rainforest along with a bit of exercise. Well worth a couple hrs of a nature lovers time.Written September 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mary BAlbuquerque, New Mexico95 contributionsThere are several lovely walks in this park. If you are looking to be surrounded by forest, you will find that here. Do pick up a map - it is easy to get turned around in here. We took Melda's Marsh Loop, and though the map says it connects with Seal Loop, we could not find it. User error, I believe. Some of the signage is a bit misleading, but I think the purpose in this park is to wander and absorb, not to get from point A to point B. Easy, pretty connecting trail to Seal Bay RV Park.Written July 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - coryinsitkaSitka, AK69 contributionsWonderful! We really enjoyed our time here. The staff and the wine were wonderful. It's tucked off the main road, but the very short drive leads to a lovely location. Rebecca was the best wine guide. The wines are great. We highly recommend!Written July 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- dan gCourtenay, Canada82 contributionsA very very good and a very very nice and a very very scenic park to walk or ride your bike around or just relax at and watch the birds but I recommend staying out of that park after dark.Written February 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - clooshCourtenay, Canada73 contributionsOften used by retired locals from Courtenay and Comox, this is a great site by the Salish Sea with most campsites overlooking the rocky beach and looking east over towards Powell River on the mainland Sunshine Coast, an hour and a half's ferry ride away.
Some spectacular sunrises amidst the many trees in the campground, including one massive cedar.
A good place to park for a few days and scout the local areas.
It feels safe, with the impression that other campers would keep an eye open for anyone who shouldn't be there.
Not a great lot to do in the camp, a couple of walks and boat launches, but lots of interesting places and sites, from shopping to golf courses in the nearby communities.Written August 27, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Scott LCourtenay, Canada190 contributionsEasy access one way in or at the end of a long set of trails along the Puntledge River it's a fascinating trip. Starting in late August and through to early October watching the salmon head upriver for spawning is amazing. At the hatchery seeing the salmon stacked six feet deep and twenty feet wide at the spawning grounds is a must see for nature lovers.Written January 6, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
