What travellers are saying
- mariancollinsOrangeville, Canada6 contributionsit was amazing the view the old buildings. You hike to the top and see thousands of birds call northern gannet. Incredible.Written October 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- marian sMontreal, Canada51 contributionsYou need to remember to stop taking pictures and just enjoy the scenery and the amazing rock just jutting out of the water. Try to view it from different areas and at different times of the day.Written September 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - cattlerepairman54 contributionsThere are people who "get it" and those that don't. The latter will complain about $14 "to enter a store" or somesuch.
Here is the scoop. The family of the original proprietor of the store still owns it and they made a commitment to preserving its history for others to enjoy, rather than selling out.
Worth the admission? You bet!
While older semesters will be able to recognize some of the gems in the store, for Millennials and under it will feel like time travel.
The owners are enthusiastic and liven things up with their sometimes cheeky theatrics. They do get the point across that, making $1 per day on average, a fisherman or farmer didn't have much chance to have money left over after providing for a family of 12.
An enjoyable hour and a half. As for language, being able to follow along in French is indeed needed.Written September 25, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It didn't take us too far out of our way. And it was worth the detour!Written September 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jelloman526Montreal, Canada119 contributionsIt costed $1 per adult to go up the hill. It also took 10 minutes to go up and take pictures and do down. But it was worthy. This was a great view from the top to see the Rock.Written August 29, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - James MMontreal, Canada92 contributionsExpansive campground, hiking trails and steps from the boardwalk make this a great place to visit. We stayed in the ready to camp tent with access to a semi private bath and kitchen shared with one other tent.Written August 17, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GeorgeFMarkhamONToronto, Canada2,902 contributionsThe trails begin in the campground. Some of the activities cost, but hiking up the hill is free, and the best activity of all. Numerous lookouts and posted historical commentaries.Written August 19, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - k_girl883Russell, Canada219 contributionsLovely shop! Met with artist and owner Mylène, who was awesome. She took us around the shop and told us who each artist was. We purchased a few pottery pieces (from local artist) and earring made my mylène’s mother (made of cod skin). I recommended stop for a gift!Written June 28, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JeanRaphael13Paris, France4 contributionsVisiting the Galerie d'Art de Mourad Fouad was a wonderful experience. His paintings are magnificent and cover a great realm of art - impressionist, et cetera. I also was able to meet with the owner who is a very nice man and takes the time to explain each painting that I was interested in, and how he arrived at the subject matter in the painting I was asking about. I ended up purchasing two paintings that for some reason, reminded me of both Monet and Paris! Mr. Fouad is a highly educated man and art has been a sort of hobby for him since an early age. It is now a passion!!! This passion is reflected very well in his art work. I look forward to visiting this beautiful town again and also visiting his studio. I highly recommend that if you are in the area, contact Mr. Fouad - you will not be disappointed.Written August 2, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robby G CToronto, Canada78,235 contributionsVery friendly and very informative tour about a bee farm. Sadly they are selling their property and seem to have stopped producing honey, as the only products left were from past years. Our guide was the son of the owner and he was honest in all of his answers. A great guide for certain! We sure liked seeing the see-through bee nest where bees actively worked.Written July 23, 2013This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GuyFromTheSixToronto, Canada1,057 contributionsA well maintained church by the Rock, locate only minutes from town of Percé, worth a visit when in town.Written March 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robert DEastport, ME86 contributionsI didn't want to rate this terrible but couldn't figure out how to give a review without rating it something. I choose terrible because the museum was closed when, according to the sign outside, it was supposed to be open. We wanted to see the Alberto Tommi exhibit on Sunday, Sept. 8th, and waited for the museum to open at 10AM. The person working at the museum failed to show up by 10:20 and we couldn't wait any longer as we had to be in Matane. This was the one disappointing part of our visit to the Gaspe'.Written September 13, 2013This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
