Clean and well maintained facility. Washrooms were clean and kept well.

We had a good time. Perfect place for picnic or walk around.

The beach was clean and so were the washrooms and changerooms. Would recommend this beach to anyone staying or passing through Orillia.

Very interesting and much more than we expected. A well curated history of the OPP in a beautiful building which houses the OPP Academy. Well worth visiting. Admission is free.

The house was open this time (check the website before you go - it is not always). Lots of information about his writings and life and some period furniture and pictures. Gift shop included. Grounds are beautiful in summer (we were there in the fall). Take the walk around the shoreline.

My husband and I visited for the first time. We had a personal tour. Chris, our guide, has a vast knowledge regarding the creatures in the exhibits and it was obvious that the staff care deeply about their work with the animals. Many of the creatures are endangered and the centre is doing some important outreach and educational work. I was previously unaware how many of these creatures live in southern Ontario and Canada. We had the option of holding some of the snakes and other creatures but preferred to view them only. Would return.

My husband and I love going to concerts at Rama and staying over in the hotel. The concerts have been great and the rooms are spacious and comfortable, especially love the fireplace. Our only complaint is the food - the restaurants are extremely expensive and the lower priced places like the Cedar Lounge and the Fire Starter Lounge serve horrible and expensive sandwiches. I think I'll skip eating there from now on, starving is better.

Used to be way better when the sports lounge served finger foods, poutine, etc

Next week, they move into a cozier warm environment pre Christmas. This past weekend was in the arena - a little dismal at first upon entry. Soon to be celebrated: Muskoka Lamb, Severn Sunset - fabulous chilly, excellent quality of foods. The sour dough bread was outstanding, stencils fo Xmas are coming. We purchased fresh greens, beets, bread, cheese and foods for a fabulous Sunday night dinner. Thanks to the farmers and vendors who are there for us throughout the year! Looking forward to the cozier environment next weekend. We’ll be back!

Scout Valley is a great place to lose yourself in the middle of Orillia.
Well groomed paths take you through mature forests that satisfy all the senses.

We had a great time spending a couple nights at Bass Lake. We enjoyed exploring downtown Orillia as well as the neighboring provincial parks, Mara and McRae Point. I will say just driving though it seems as though Bass lake is the better of the three.

Campground: Campgrounds were average offering mid to low privacy. This didn't really bother us as we just parked our car horizontally against our campsite to keep our nosey neighbors across the street from peering in. The sites are pretty large, and are mostly of a dirt/sand terrain (much better than grass in my opinion). It looked as though each campground had about one picnic table and the firepits were located in rather reasonable areas within the sites.

Amenities: Bass lake has one park store that we didn't need to actually use during our stay. But it looks like the average park store, with ice cream, souvenirs, maybe some emergency camp supplies. Most park stores typically carry things like bug spray, tent pegs, mosquito coils, rain ponchos etc. Bass lake has canoe rentals by the park store which I was very happy to see. The washrooms and showers were very average, resembled your typical provincial park washrooms and showers

Because the campground is less than 10 mins away from Orillia we actually enjoyed spending time in the town. We used the public library to finish up some of our personal work, we treated ourselves to donuts at Mariposa Market, did some exploring by lake Couchiching and of course did some window shopping in the little downtown.

Lake: The beach area is quite small, Bass lake is not a very large lake. Not to mention how the beach is not a walkable distance from most of the campsites. I wasn't too fond of the private cottages scattered all throughout the perimeter of the lake which took away some of the scenery for me personally. There are private cottages less than a 3 minute swim away from the side of the beach. However, the lake was warm, had a nice sandy shore, and it was fun to swim and paddle.

Definitely not our typical camping routine, however we really enjoyed our stay. Being so close to town is usually not a bonus for most people but I think it's one of my favorite aspects of Bass Lake. The campground itself is nice but pretty average so having places to explore nearby made the trip more exciting.

We have spent the last three Christmas time at Guardian Angels Church, when we stay at The Fern Resort. The mass is good although the priest doing the sermon is a bit difficult to understand, Christmas Eve mass has been very quiet, the last two years and the priests are very nice, it is nice speaking to them after mass on Christmas.

We were on a family trip near Midland and decided to take a drive to Orillia to the antique store. I found the lamps I've been searching for and I couldn't be happier.

Very clean, bright space with lots of interesting items. Recommend setting aside at least an hour to go through if you want to see everything.
