- AcademicTravelsToronto, Canada57 contributionsThe opening gallery is one of the best museum galleries anywhere in the world. I could just sit here an enjoy the ambience over and over again. A true gem and a must see for Canadians and international visitors alike.Written November 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - happymomx3Northern NJ537 contributionsThe park was stunningly beautiful and the Mount King Trail had stunning views. There are several outhouses for use throughout the park. Several trails were closed due to unsafe conditions.
Do NOT park at the visitor’s center or out lots. ONLY park in the small lots for the trail you intend to hike. We waited with dozens of people for a shuttle after our hike for over 2 1/2 hours. Shuttles come every 20 minutes, but ALL were full and passed by us at the Mount King Trail. Park staff were not at all concerned that DOZENS of people were stranded after the last shuttle of the day passed. Most of us had no cell signal. One person got a cell out to emergency services. They sent someone out to assess the situation. That person eventually brought two buses to go to Ottawa only. They refused to go to the visitor’s center.
Two people in our group walked to the lot to get the car, which took more than 90 minutes and wasn’t particularly safe because the only place to walk was the edge of the road. Two other people waiting with us hitchhiked and were driven to their car. Several others tried (including us), but cars would not stop to help. It was cold and getting dark. It’s unfathomable to me that park staff would allow dozens of people to be stranded. Without the call to emergency services more than an hour after the last shuttle and no one came to help, we all would have been stuck.Written October 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You also have access to thw other museum attached so plan more time if you want to do both.Written July 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nigel Spencer23 contributionsVery pleasant, especially with the Florilèges, easy access, quiet and much more interesting than Ottawa, which is basically an empty shell at the best of times. The park is on the edge of the river, so both cities are within easy reach.
Most good cruises leave from here.Written August 15, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Glenda C5 contributionsPleasant park in the middle of the city. I was staying in the core of Ottawa without a car and one bus ride got me there. I think it was close to an hour, but if you have the time it is easy to get there on the bus. It was maybe a 15 min walk from the stop. There are bike paths that connect to it from Ottawa but consult with the experts there. Small beach area with sand. The rest of the beach area is landscaped with large rocks so not a lot of sitting area close to water. Fees are for parking, not entrance there is a small snack bar that serves your usual fare along with cocktails. Only a small area for swimming the rest is for boats and paddle boarders. you can rent the SUP here as well. Large grassy lawn for playing on and lots of picnic tables for eating /BBQWritten August 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Scott POttawa, Canada178 contributionsOn a Sunday afternoon, I was at the Mackenzie King Estate with friends for an afternoon tea. as well as to explore the estate where Canada's longest-serving Prime Minister, William Lyon Mackenzie King had his summer residence and retreat. There were these old ruins of Medieval archways and columns that were salvaged from the 1916 fire that consumed the Parliament Building in Ottawa as well as fragments that King collected from the British Houses of Parliament. While my friends and I were eating outside of the Pat Cafe, music from the Swing Era of the 1940s was playing in the background that was as a trip back in time making it a jolly day.Written August 24, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Wally1234Ottawa, Canada99 contributionsEnjoy a quiet, enchanting, fun ride and beautiful Ottawa and Gatineau scenery viewed from the river. We enjoyed an amazing tour aboard the “limo” celebrating my wife’s birthday. Boarded at a small dock just behind the Museum of History with great views of Parliament, Rideau Canal locks into the river, Chateau Laurier and Ottawa skyline. Six adults & four children - we brought drinks & snacks & the captain set up a table for us. The electric boat was perfect - quiet so we could have a conversation without yelling. The Captain knows the area very well and provided interesting facts about the beautiful sights on both sides of the majestic Ottawa river. Highly recommend the taxi and the private tour.Written June 7, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Charles GOttawa, Canada929 contributionsCompleted two years ago, the cycling trail along the river is superb, in great condition, lots of flowers, lots of people, and eventually, a lot more action as the area further develops to attract boaters, cyclists and other tourists.Written August 6, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gmarcusToronto216 contributionsThis is a beautiful park. Loved walking through the green spaces. Children’s playground looked like it had lots of fun equipment. Watching the magnificent sunsets from the park and pier is spectacular. City of Gatineau runs many free activities. The fireworks display was excellent and we watched it from a boat in the water. The bicycle path is lovely and we road on both sides of the Ottawa River crossing 2 bridges for a 3 hour round trip passing rapids and parliament.
The only disappointment was that swimming at the large sandy beach was not possible the whole week we were visiting due to unsafe levels of bacteria in the water. Some people ignored the warnings and were swimming outside of the marked area. It is good that the water is tested on a regular basis, but be aware that closures can happen. All the other beaches in the vicinity were open.Written August 16, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
