Peace River's NEWEST (2021) bridge has a beautiful pedestrian walkway built underneath it. It spans the entire majestic Peace River and walking on it gives you views of the river, town and valley not otherwise seen from land. Walk it end to end and back (about 45 minutes) or walk part way. Great for all seasons. Picture huge jagged ice chunks several feet thick in the winter! Gorgeous! The east side of the walkway connects to a paved walking trail along the dyke and into downtown (past River Front Park and the 12 Foot Davis statue). The west side connects to a paved walking trail up the west hill. It's well lit for evening or late night walks as well. The open-air bridge walkway is suspended underneath the traffic bridge, how cool is that for kids to experience?? Don't worry, this is NOT a rope suspension bridge, think steel, concrete...it's part of the design and engineering of the $180 million (2017-2021) traffic bridge construction project.

Nice presentation but the real gem was the helpful and knowledgeable staff. They were able to find and photo copy information about my great grandparents farm as well as cemetery locations. Great information!

Getting to this lookout requires a map to know where you are going. You travel up a high hill on rough gravel at 50 km/hr on Highway 744. But once you reach your destination, it is more than rewarding. There is a parking lot on the south side of the lookout. Gorgeous views where the Smoky River converges with the Peace River. Highly recommend seeing this!

This little gem is a must stop in Peace River! The space is nicely developed and the beer is good. They have a nice variety of activities and snacks available, especially the pretzels. I may be 100% at crib in this location.

This is a great place to go and cool off in the summer, though some of the fixtures at the back of the park could use a little maintenance. I

This is a nice Provincial Park to go camping and swimming in the lake. I like that is private, it only has a few camping areas and a hiking trail. Could be a great day trip if you are in the Peace River area.

We stopped in at the Tourist Info centre in Peace River and were dismayed that we missed closing time by 5 minutes. By the nice gentlemen let us in and spent at least 30 minutes telling us all about Peace River and even let us tour the museum. Turns out the nice gentleman was also curator of the museum, and knew not only the history of the area but hiking trails and the best places to stay.

Peace River's newest bridge was designed with a suspended walkway underneath for pedestrians. I took a stroll across the beautiful Peace River and experienced views of the river and valley that you can't get from being on land. It's a big river, give yourself 45 mins to an hour to walk completely across and back with some stops for pics...or go only part way! You can get onto it from the east or west side of the river. Parking is most convenient from the east side (across from 9105 94 Street) if you want to go straight onto the walkway. Picturesque in the summer or winter (think frozen, massive, chunky ice blocks, meters thick). Walkway bridge lights at night are bright, it is well lit! The walkway connects up to the paved dyke on the east side and paved walking trails on the west side. Kids will love the notion of the traffic above them! And, of course, it's FREE!
