- VanGuardCanada198 contributionsAbsolutely fun times! I really wish there was one in Edmonton!!! We really need outdoor places like this during the summer! What a brilliant idea! The wandering river and the fast paced ones are a favorite of ours. There’s a pond with a beach- it says not for swimming but we did see people swimming in there, fishing and canoeing. There’s a huge waterpark beside the slides and a concession stand. Dogs are only allowed on the trails and the grass (leashed) but not the area by the slides. There’s a covered area which is where you can cook (no cooking on the grass). However, they need to build a change room. I think they are planning to expand the park which is good because, it really gets packed on hot summer days! There’s a nice trail you can walk/run/ bike if you prefer as well. Thank you Whitecourt for having this!!!Written July 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- John FAlberta, Canada19 contributionsJuly 12 -2024 Wife and I wanted to get out for a day trip and Hard Luck Canyon came up- was 140 minutes drive for us - getting to the location after stopping to get a bite at Brothers Diner was a non paved road for 18km. ( take the exit before the town to have a paved road experience). Canyon was quaint and beautiful… not much water as no rains in AB or melting snow. Would say good for a one time visit.Written July 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- edmomAlberta, Canada86 contributionsThis campground is one of our favourites for a number of reasons:
1) not far from the city
2) beautiful forested campground
3) amenities close by if needed
The campsites are for the most part well treed and private. The ones right by the lake in A section are less so. We like loops D or E.
The trails within the campground are nicely maintained and provide an easy walk to the beach from most areas.
The beach is smaller, but very nice sand and a large roped off shallow area with a playground attached.
There are also showers if desired, and all sites are powered, so even with a tent you can charge devices or hang up some pretty lights.
Make reservations to ensure you can select the site that is right for your family.Written August 23, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We needed to exchange money so we thought we'd stop at the visitor center and ask where their banks were. We thought it would be a quick stop but we got sidetracked by the out buildings museum. The center itself is an interesting striking structure. There is so much info inside and not just of that area. We found travel guides to every province, picked up one for PEI, and went the next year. The staff was helpful with the bank issue and also recommended restaurants. I also got a nice reusable Whitecourt bag which I keep in my suitcase for extras. Did I mention the clean restrooms? Thanks for all your help. Hope to see you next year.Written January 30, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- shelleyWhitecourtwhitecourt13 contributionsThis hill is a good place to spend a few hours. Best for beginner to medium skiers or snowboaders. Staff is courteous although lineups for equipment are long....in part due to Covid restrictions. Tubing run is available for those who dont want to go skiing or boarding.Written December 27, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mark_McG_9Alberta, Canada14 contributionsThe bike park is a lot of fun and a must do when in Whitecourt. The trails and dirt jumps offer a challenge for all skill levels. It was great seeing many youngsters using the park. A proper parking area would be good to develop. The bike club has done an awesome job!Written October 1, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Starseed MagiciansEdmonton, Canada111 contributionsA beautiful gem 2 hours North of Edmonton.
Great interactive info filled way to Hard Luck Canyon. Stairs and a bit of walk.
Carsson lake is huge, beautiful place for fishing, boating, dog walk, bike riding, daytrip and sunset views.
The Demonstration Forest recently opened up. Beautiful interactive boards for kids to read. Don't get down as you might encounter a bear or a bear family. We did see a big black bear just about 200 meters from our car. While finishing the loop, a Mama bear was guarding her 2 playful cubs at the entrance.
Don't enter on a rainy day. Path is all muddy and you might get stuck and stranded.
