We were given turn by turn directions by our daughter...better than the GPS. We walked the trails, saw sea lions on the rocks, and looked for whales. We didn't see any, but the view is so good, we went back the next day, took a lunch with us and some games, and sat at a picnic table for a couple of hours just looking out at the water. Then we took a walk around sleepy Horseshoe Bay. Very relaxing day.

Beautiful walk, no traffic and so relaxing. You can walk at your own pace, amazing open views to the island and surroundings. Great coffee shops and restaurants in the vicinity.

Great beach area to watch ships come and go. And an amazing playground! Kids loved the park being close enough to the beach to go back and forth.

If you go to West Vancouver, possibly for the Lighthouse Park, make sure you stop at the Cypress Lookout for a really nice panoramic view of downtown Vancouver and the waterfront.

As a Vancouver resident and longtime snowboarder, Cypress Mountain is great due to its close location to the city and where I live. I can easily drive there and do a quick day trip out to the mountain for some great powder when I want making it super convenient. Lift prices are cheaper compared to Whistler and parking is great! 4 stars because less runs compared to Whistler.

The Point Atkinson Lighthouse Trail was a good-go, and highly recommended, but that said some improvements could be made.
Colleen and I stopped in right after docking, and following the Marine Drive route found the turn-in to the parking was an almost 180 degree turn, which seemed somewhat dangerous, so that could be improved. The parking lot and available spots was pretty good actually. The signage to the most direct-route leading to the lighthouse was lacking, and we had to ask other travellers for assistance. The path itself is not bad but could be improved, especially considering how much money is floating around West Vancouver. And again, at the end of the trail it's a bit confusing as to how to actually get to either the waterfront or the lighthouse itself, and we again relied on others to help us out.
All in all it was a really pleasant walk, and yes it does take more time to walk back up to the parking lot than it does to walk down to the water, but there's a few benches for us older folks to 'catch our breath', or as we tell others, 'we're just enjoying the scenery, thanks'.
We look forward to seeing some improvements next time on the mainland.
    Safe travels, Paul

Yes, there were tough moments, but few and far between. Yes, you have to have training so this is not recommended for novice. It's amazing! The journey is amazing and you are reminded, again, how tiny and insignificant, yet how rare and precious we all are... (quoting "Contact")

The acquatic center is a complex of pools that accomodates all ages and most activities. The children's area is well supervised and even ahs a nice water slide. There are really good classes for adults and, of course, the swimming area is very nice. The only downside is that the men's changing room is very small and very crowded at times.

This is a nice place to sit when waiting for a ferry or a bus. There are paved paths through the park, benches to sit on and lovely views over the water to snow capped mountains in the distance. You can see buses or ferries arriving here and it's a short walk over to the bus stop or ferry terminal once your transport arrives.

    Easy hike
    Dogs welcome on trail
Confusing to find the parking. Get a map and pay close attention.
Hike intersects with Baden Powell trail. Pay attention whenever tails intersect so you don’t get lost.
