- LJS047Victoria, Canada28 contributionsImagine a perfect sunny day. The ocean is calm, looking like glass. You are on an island spit, surrounded by distant mainland mountains. Just as you are trying to take in all this beauty, a humpback whale is spotted just off shore, cruising down the coast. It's so quiet, one is able to hear the regular blows, and see the spouts and tail of this huge creature.
This was our experience at Rebecca Spit Marine Park.
Follow this surreal experience with an easy hike around the spit, and you have pretty much a perfect morning.Written September 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We had never kayaked before and by the end of the trip we felt we had discovered our new passion. The guides was exceptional, instructing us on technique and ensuring that we had an awesome new adventure everyday. We discovered the unique intertidal marine life, secret coves, swimming in lakes and a visit to stands of old growth forests. Being in one spot was an asset as you didn't have to spend time setting up camp but could enjoy some time relaxing, playing games, reading books, walks, swims etc.
The food was high quality, locally grown and a well thought out menu which catered for dietry preferences and allergies. It was wonderful to have our own little cabin and ensuite to retire to each night in a very comfortable bed. We were lucky enough to have beautiful sunny weather 26 - 28 deg C, so happy that our wet weather gear stayed in the bottom of the bag. Although a log fire in the room and hot tub every evening would have made a cold and wet week a different but equally enjoyable experience.
Thank you to Brody and Cristina for sharing their beautiful architecturally designed slice of paradise. The name 'The Flow' describes the vibe that we experienced both on and off the water - for me it became my mantra for the rest of the trip.Written October 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. In an effort to search for the wildlife, Ruben took us on a tour of one of the most beautiful places on the planet!
One of the humpbacks came right up under the boat (even though Ruben respectully kept about 100m away - it wanted to come to us!)
Lunch was wonderful, with homemade cookies, croissant sandwiches, and hot chocolate and coffee.
This was an amazing experience that we will not forget!Written August 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Dave D1 contributionSmart fisherman in Campbell River??
