We had a wonderful time on the four day Moresby Explorers tour! It was the last tour of the season and the park was quite quiet which was lovely. Even the Watchmen had left but our guide, Flavien, gave us excellent tours of the five Watchmen sites. We had three days of sun and one day of rain. Lots of whales, seals, sea lions. A magical visit to Echo Harbour watching salmon launch themselves out of the water, seals, sea lions and a bald eagle bellying up to the buffet while the sun was setting behind the trees. We felt safe and comfortable with Flavien the whole trip and his great sense of humour was much appreciated. Ash and Alex made amazing food at the float camp while Frances presented us with a gourmet African themed meal at Rose Harbour. The lunches on the beaches each day were also great. We learned so much on the hikes and zodiac tours of the area. Flavien was very considerate of his colleagues which made for a nice atmosphere everywhere. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Haida Gwaii!

Whales & Bears tour - These guys are great. Perfect weather, great planning sunrise to sunset. The experience could not have been better. "No credit given for the weather", they made it incredible. Food & gear, knowledgeable, really good people. Some of the best paddling days ever. Thanks Scott, Calgary Alberta

Atlas was recommended to us by a close friend. The trip more than exceeded our expectations even after hearing glowing reviews from our friend. Our captain was Brian who was a pleasure and very knowledgeable and flexible. The organization in advance was done through Cathy and James who are clearly highly experienced and very responsive. Highlights were: outstanding food for all meals, whale and other animal sightings, wonderful kayak trips, unbelievable scenery, Haida villages and watchmen who were interesting and engaging. I can't say enough about this experience and trip. It was so meaningful to hear the Haida history. You will be in a park where almost no one lives, other than the watchmen during the season. One night there is a dinner in Rose harbour created by lovely people who cook using everything from the land and sea. I cannot recommend this trip enough. If you can, book the boat. It takes 6. We brought 4 and another couple joined us who didn't know us, which was great, but I think filling the boat with your friends or family would be even more special. Thank you so much to James, Cathy and Brian for the trip of a lifetime. I would post pictures but others have really done it justice. I would definitely do this trip again it was so wonderful.

We took the tour to Skedans with Haida Style and enjoyed it greatly. The guides were entertaining and knowledgeable and generous in sharing their personal experience and the culture and traditions of the Haida people.
Lunch was also amazing with halibut and salmon cooked on the beach, along with
    Greek salad, rice and more.
I should add that 2 of our group were seniors who had no trouble navigating the boat or the walk through the village.
Haida Gwaii is a very special place and this tour is well worth doing.

I had an amazing kayaking experience with Sierra, she was a wonderful guide! Super personable and friendly, knew a lot about the area, and made the day really chilled and fun. The lunch was delicious - mainly homemade which I love, and they catered for dietary requirements, which was fab. Sierra was very accommodating and came to pick me up and dropped me off at the ferry as I was staying in Sandspit and didn't have access to a car for that day. I had had a negative kayaking experience previously, so was a bit anxious about doing this one. Sierra put me at ease immediately, I felt safe and taken care of the whole time. The scenery was incredible, I've never experienced silence like I did in Haida Gwaii, it was pure magic! We saw loads of wonderful wildlife and just had a fab day! I can't recommend Haida Gwaii Kayak enough, if I am ever back there I'll definitely be doing one of their multi-day programs! Thanks guys :)

At The Water’s Edge (operating as Butterfly Tours in Haida Gwaii) were fantastic. If you are considering this trip, you already know that Gwaii Hanas is a sacred and beautiful place—Butterfly/AWE are an excellent choice to bring you there! First off, the team behind the scenes were so helpful over email and phone as I prepared for the trip, and set me at ease as a solo female traveler. The owner Wesley was incredibly kind and helped me late the night before departure with a logistical issue. The places we visited and glorious beaches, forests, and cultural sites we experienced were so special, and we were graced with many amazing whale and animal sightings throughout the trip. But the highlights of the trip for me were our guides, Maia and Dave, who were nothing short of extraordinary. They were incredibly skilled at guiding our group of varying levels of kayak experience in somewhat challenging wind conditions. I especially appreciated their centering the importance of acknowledging and respecting the Haida land we walked and waters we paddled on, especially Maia who guided us with a steady hand and thoughtful and soulful presence. Dave was an absolute joy to paddle with, he has an incredible energy, sense of humor, and appreciation for the small creatures and plants around us that was infectious—and a crack instructor to boot! Our guides prepared fantastic meals and snacks full of fresh veg, lots of coffee, and delicious treats. They provided lots of lessons and tips on the water, and deftly managed all our group’s needs and personalities with incredible grace. It was a joy to paddle in this part of the world with Buttefly/AWE, and I certainly hope to do so again!

My partner and I really enjoyed this tour! The hike to the cliff top and then down to the beach rocks was refreshing and very informative - depsite the rain, which only lasted part of the day. The forests were so beautiful: thick with mosses and older trees, rich from the amounts of rain. It was wonderful hearing the history and some of the stories of the Haida from our Haida guide. Being on tour with work colleagues made this more fun as well.
Lunch at the 626 restaurant in Masset was incredible with freshly caught fish, after which we visited the live carving studio of J. Edenshaw and T. York in New Masset. Both sons of famous Haida artists, they were working on a new totem pole and were very humble about their work, despite it being so gorgeous in their process of creating it. They really encouraged us to touch the wood and to ask questions about what they were doing and the creatures being carved on the pole. I felt very honoured by their openness.
After that we were driven back down to Skidegate, and got a driving tour through the Skidegate reserve areas. It was interesting to see the relative levels of wealth and poverty between some of the houses, but at the same time seeing far more wealth than I often have at other reservations in BC. After that we were all dropped off at our stays just before dinner time.
It was a great tour overall, enhanced so much be having a Haida woman guiding us and filling us in on the history and stories of her people.

I can’t thank Ocean Light Adventures and our crew (Barrett, Rhea and Luise) for creating a trip of a lifetime. I have never had a trip that exceeded my expectations by so much, and I’ve traveled a LOT. I could write volumes of praise, but wouldn’t know how to stop.

We did incredible kayaking in intertidal zones, whale watching, visiting all five of the protected Haida villages, old growth forest hikes, crabbing, fishing, dining (wonderful healthy meals) and just hanging out with fellow guests….it was all exceptional.

Our crew’s hard work, knowledge, good energy, kindness, fun and camaraderie made the trip a joy.

Tony and his son Skyler were excellent guides and excellent hosts. We fished for three days and we had a truly memorable trip. The boaters were excellent, the guides were knowledgeable, the scenery was spectacular and the fishing was great. We are planning a return trip next year!

We can't recommend Jesse and Masset Charters enough. We had the trip of a lifetime and came back home with a freezer full of fish! The fishing was world class, and Jesse is clearly an experienced fisherman and was great with our kids on board. Can't wait for our next trip with him.

Kurt was a great host getting us a 23 pound chinook salmon and within metres of a humpback whale all in one afternoon.
Could have caught more salmon if our party was more motivated.
Kurt is knowledgeable and makes sure you achieve your goals for the trip.

Shelley took excellent care for each of her guests guiding us to many of the hot spots on Haida Gway. We had a unique experience learning the history of the Haida Nation, saw totem poles being carved, met many of the locals

We had a wonderful day kayaking with Kye- he taught us a lot about the local history and shared his own experience about growing up in Haida Gwaii. He grew up on these waters and knows them well so we all felt in good hands. He made a great lunch with local specialities-deer and salmon. Great local hospitality!
