in the past, I’ve only been here during the day. This was my first Christmas at the gardens and it was absolutely beautiful. We started our evening with high tea which turned out to be the best high tea we had while in Victoria. Then out into the gardens to see the lights and their 12 days of Christmas scavenger hunt. Too bad that was the day it rained cats and dogs all day.

We were taken to Sea Cove on a wine tasting tour, and found the hard cider better than the flaccid central Victoria wines we were experiencing. First, the facility was open, bright and expansive with views off to the sea beyond the orchids. It serves also as a wedding venue. The server was charming and helpful. There was an assortment of possible wine flights and we chose a drier one. We received a selection of six hard ciders that were complex, unique, and very well made. My preference went to the Pippins and Bittersweet. I would definitely recommend the drier flight as it had more than enough fruit and allowed the selected apple varieties to shine through. We also had a local cheese plate that paired well with food. Take a walk around the beautiful grounds when you visit. Recommended for a unique Victoria experience.

There is a lot to appreciate about this easy, well-maintained, and very popular walking trail around Elk/Beaver Lake. The path is clearly marked, including kilometer markers throughout. There are 2-3 clean restrooms along the way, and the many walkers and runners are generally friendly, smiling, and greeting each other. Bicycles are not allowed on the trail.

However, about one-third of the path runs relatively close to a noisy road, which takes away from the full nature experience. While there is plenty of nice scenery, and it's easy to find spots for swimming or picnicking, the area feels a bit too manicured.

This trail is probably most enjoyable for runners who can dash along with their headsets on. Hikers looking for untouched nature might find it a bit disappointing.

An absolutely beautiful beach, very popular with the locals. Great place to gather and barbeque. The one big negative is there are way too many dogs off leash. CRD needs to make this a NO dog park.

As we were starting our drive back to the ferry, Don aid let's go in to the winery. We haven't done that since we lived in Oliver. So, away we go.

We were seated outside and our serve, Mike, has the greatest sense of humor and, ladies, he resembles George Clooney. We ordered our beverages and he explained the differences of their wine to Kelly so she could make a choice

We ordered a Charcuterie platter to share and it was lovely. Our server, Mike, took his time to explain the wines and it was a nice experience. Yes, we would go here again. It was most pleasant.

Driving into the winery site, you’ll see their spectacular view! There’s nothing better than sitting in a chair sipping your wine and liquor samples while looking out at the ocean and islands. 3 samples and a water for $5, tastings free if you buy something. The ancient grains whiskey is fabulous! All their gins are delicious. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, welcoming, just the right amount of information given without being too sales-pitchy. They also sell other local products. We would definitely come back here and we recommend a stop at De Vine Vineyards!

The hike was only about 10-15mins one way. We took the road trail up and the more rural-forger one back down. Easy uphill walk. The top had a great view!

On Sunday we arrived with a reservation but found the staff totally slammed with work.
We had to wait to be seated for about 10 minutes, then the same once we were seated.
The waitress was really good even though she was so busy and tried her best to serve us.
The food was well worth the wait and the atmosphere was beautiful. The gardens can be seen from every window and the gardens are spectacular.
    I would definitely go again.

We've had our horses stabled at Valle Vista for several years now. The barn management knows how to take care of them, they are very happy there. Location is great, right on the trail.
