What travellers are saying
- BuddapiesBedfordshire, UK194 contributionsEven on a chilly day, the views are stunning, reasonable price enter the site £13.00 each adult, dogs allowed, which was good. We used the car park and for the time of year plenty of spaces to choose from. The Youth Hostel café was pleasant and warming. Welcoming people.Written February 19, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- LollipopsbabyMarina Romea, Italy585 contributionsOmg what a stunning place . Had a dog who loved it . So many things to do and see but I’d expect this area would be even more heaving in the summer . I couldn’t believe how many people were out considering it’s February. Pretty clean area and found public toilets . Everything that you could wish for available, places to eat in or out . Icecream, rocks, cafe’s Pubs and so much moreWritten February 23, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- BuddapiesBedfordshire, UK194 contributionsLovely harbour, we walked down to the beach for the dog to have a run about. I like it that it does not have a lot of amusements if it needs any at all, but if you have to have them there is not many and is not in your face. The pier is a nice walk out gives you lovely views.Written February 19, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - naturalCeltCounty Durham, UK102 contributionsThis marvellous museum is something of a personal favourite, I must admit. It is, in effect, an exhibit in itself, a perfect Victorian time-capsule. It is filled to the brim with intriguing and often bizarre exhibits, admittedly alongside some of what you might expect in Whitby - wonderful fossils, beautiful jet jewellery and multiple model ships - but it's the curiosities that are particular fun, not least the gruesome 'hand of glory' and, nearby, Dr Merryweather's magnificent Tempest Prognosticator... I leave others to discover their own personal gems.Written February 26, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - T BYork, UK1,474 contributionsA beautiful stretch of this coast. Great for dog walkers but the young kids will love it too…jumping over or paddling across the narrow tributary into the sea. (By the bend in the road).
Beautiful looking out to sea and then turn around and imagine the trains of yesteryear passing high above the twisting road as it passed along the rail bridge (no longer in existence).
There’s images in the cafe along the roadside.

Couple of benches to stop in the way up. Look out for the Roman numeral numbering the steps in every 10th step.Written January 7, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AMD-SecretShopperWolverhampton, UK54 contributionsA real gem in Whitby, spectacular views from
the top and lovely and quiet.
A real taste of ecclesiastical history full of Elizabethan box pews with the gallery still in. Had a conversation with a staff member who was so knowledgeable about the place!

Unfortunately, the weather was rather wet which did restrict our plans for tripping out. our accommodation had secure parking, which meant that we were close enough to walk everywhere in the town. Botham s bakery [2shops] supplied us with lovely bread etc. However, we did find the hills quite a challenge and opted for the Khyber Pass to get into the harbour area, as we were staying up on the north Cliff. Not easy for anyone with walking difficulties, although there was a bus down into the town. fish and chips everywhereWritten October 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Debbie C6 contributionsWhat an amazing place to visit in Whitby. The baby lobsters were fabulous. I would recommend this for any age. - IAN DWigan, UK26,791 contributionsRegrettably I couldn't walk to the end of the pier to see the lighthouse up close and closed due to the high winds. - Sue_and_Andy_66Horsforth, UK6,360 contributionsNice park a few minutes away from the beach. Note dogs are not allowed probably accounts for a plentiful squirrels that frequent here . If you can bring some peanuts for them, as they are quite tame and some will take from your hand.
