Some other museums could learn a lot from this little place on how to engage children's interest!
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this exquisite museum; a 'must' for those interested in Tudor history, and for a 'bird's eye view' into the daily life of a wealthy medieval family.

York Art Gallery
#12 of 40 Museums in York
I have often found smaller museums to be just the right size to experience while traveling and to come away with a better sense of both the mission, the locale and the history than I do with large institutions.
The building is just lovely, the galleries easy to navigate, and the curation of both fine art, ceramics and pottery so fresh and inspiring – both the museum collection and the changing exhibitions.
Yorkshire Museum

One of us had free entry due to being a member of the Museums Association and the other has a YMT card which is good value if you are someone who likes museums and art galleries; it lasts for a full year.
We are YMT card holders and for anyone living within an hour of York this is a great scheme - for £22 per year you get unlimited access to 2 museums and the York Art Gallery (children are free).
The Roman Bath
