What travellers are saying
- Uncle BadgerThe Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield, UK661 contributionsIncredibly picturesque, this is a great place for a walk on a beach.
Great view of Rathlin Island and Scotland in the distance. If you’re lucky, you might see seals. Obviously I didn’t.Written February 22, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The scenery is always changing, especially when there are rock falls and changes to the road you walk along from the small parking area at the bottom.
Deer, ducks, dolphins, seals, various birds and lots of flowers might all be seen.
Please respect the area and leave it as you would want to find it.Written June 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Free car park and a steep rough track up the hill. Difficult climb but rewarding.Written August 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - laneyislayIsle of Islay148 contributionsWe visited here during a day trip to Ballycastle, it's a 10/15 minute walk from the beach. It is a ruin but the friary is very well kept. It is very picturesque - definitely worth a visit.Written September 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sarah LLondon, UK3,658 contributionsStunning blue seas even in the middle of winter. A lovely picturesque spot for a photo opportunity en route to Giant's Causeway. Be careful though- it gets pretty windy!Written January 11, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- the gluten free travellerMarch, UK39 contributionsWhat a gem! This place was amazing! We were the only people there and it is only a short walk from cerrick a rede bridge. - Christopher PHai Phong, Vietnam264 contributionsThe Puffin Gallery has so many arts and hand crafts to offer and it is sure worth to pop and look around if you ever visiting or just passing through Ballycastle. There is also an online shop. If you are into arts and hand crafts, this undoubtedly is the place to go to! I love handmade models and I bought the model Rathlin island which really appealed to me and as shown in the attached image. The staff are very friendly and a real credit is awarded to Robert and Brigitte who are currently assisting me to purchase their Christmas tree ornaments on their online shop as I forgot to purchase them in store and unfortunately I don’t live locally and I also work abroad for most of the year. Thank you so very much!!Written August 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- NHjoSaco, ME15,327 contributionsI was traveling 'off the grid', with no cell phone, and since there are no more Internet cafes, I used local libraries to check email and let my son and others know I was still alive. The Ballycastle Library staff were very cordial in letting me use one of their computers.Written September 16, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joxer100Dublin, Ireland32 contributionsGreat challenge for the average golfer with a great variety of holes. Views from the 7th tee onwards are just spectacular. A few blind shots if you’re a first time visitor as we were but nothing too extreme. I liked the mixture of parklands and links and it’s a pity you can’t see the river from the first tee. Staff in the pro shop were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Can’t comment on the catering as we couldn’t hang around afterwards, hence four stars instead of five. It’s a course I wouldn’t definitely play again when I’m in the area.Written September 25, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David HBury, UK1,651 contributionsHAving read about the town, we knew of Marconi's connection and that there was a monument. After being in town all week, we still hadnt found it, and it was only on returning to the car park late one evening that we noticed the "pile of rocks". It is disappointing that such an important person be commemmorated by such an ugly (in my opinion) monument, and in such an incongruos location.Written August 5, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
