- Zachary M3 contributionsThis was a great tour of the Mont Marte area starting at the bottom and going all the way up to the Basilica, with quite a few stops to try various typical French foods along the way. While it was a little bit heavy on sweet and lighter on savory that I would’ve preferred, it’s very interesting to get a local’s perspective on the best items in the neighborhood. She was super knowledgeable about the food and the area and the places she took us had some of the best food we tried while in Paris. There were 6 of us (3 couples) and Claire provided just the right mix of Montmartre history, culture, food and food history. She took us to the popular, and to the unique sites, and shared interesting stories.
She was warm, friendly, and very accomodating when it came to individual taste preferences…. And there was plenty of food! She did a wonderful job of balancing sweet and savory items. We were all stuffed before the end of the tour, and chose to take the macarons from our last food stop with us.
Claire gave us time to take photos, but kept us moving along, so the time flew by. The varieties, the combinations and the histories of the wines and cheeses added to the understanding of their heritage, how they were produced and how and why the wines would pair with the cheeses.
