Would recommend before you use the system that you do lots of research on-line to understand the ins and outs of the system. Would recommend visitors purchase Paris visite pass tickets (each day expires at midnight) over the Navigo travel passes with unlimited rides on the metro, RER, buses. Buy your tickets only from the Metro official booths. Make sure you fill in your name and dates for use and validate your ticket each time you enter train station/bus etc. If you don't do this, be expected to be fined if you are checked. The tickets also get easily demagnetized so don't store them with your phone etc. Know where you need to go before you get in the station. Although strictly speaking not a funicular anymore it remains a lovely historic form of transport with good views and save a lot of effort climbing the stairs. My flight got delayed by approx 2 hours and customer service helped me managing my booking. For buses it’s not so convenient as the buses depart away from the main station. Inside there were ‘t any particularly interesting shops. I’ve been to better places, I’ve also been to much worse. - BluebellplasnewyddCardiff, UK2,043 contributionsWe used the RER to transfer between Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon. You can buy tickets on Eurostar avoiding the queues at the station. The entrance to the RER is at the end of the platform when you arrive in Paris. However when you get down to the basement area there is quite a lot of walking with your luggage. You follow the signs to the RER and eventually arrive at the trainlines but it is not clear which actual line you take. There are no network plans as on the London Underground so it is best to ask one of the helpful staff. - Olga G16 contributionsVery disrespectful behavior of the driver spoiled the whole experience. We were at the customs. The bus wasn’t moving and the driver was sitting on his phone.
My wifi stopped working and when I politely asked him about this issue, he just kept looking at his phone. I thought maybe he didn’t hear me, so asked again. He again ignored me. It was so horrible and childish. Even if you’re in a bad mood, come on! There should be some respect to each other.

It is so narrow and crowded that the only way you can get from one end to the other is by stepping outside, but outside is dark because there are no lights. The only place you might be able to sit in is the waiting area, but that doesn't have a working departure board, making it useless.
