While staying in Paris we visited the Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre We walked up the steps and there are quite a few so you may want to take the funicular railway at the side .but that had many people waiting . The Basilique is really beautiful and very large with many beautiful stained glass windows and statues and lots of lit candles which you can buy and light yourself . We didn’t have to queue for very long and got some lovely pics of the view as it was a reasonable day at the beginning of October. There is free entry but machines are inside for donations .Written October 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Yes, it is crowded and there are no shortages of gift shops; however, there's also artists creating amazing paintings and of course there's the view at the top of the hill.
We opted to get off the Metro at Lamarck - Caulaincourt and come to the neighborhood from that direction and then went down the stairs as we left. Whether you opt to go down the stairs or you choose to go up them, you will encounter the bracelet sellers at the base, no matter what they say or do (they do put their hands on arms), if you just keep walking without saying a word, they'll leave you alone and move on to someone else. We avoided them by sitting on nearby benches and when they had approached others, we walked right by unnoticed.Written September 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were pleasantly surprised to see how comprehensive the collection was. It was wonderful to walk in the studios used by such great artists. Loved reading about the history of the area and seeing old photographs. Views were beautiful. The ticket price was pretty high for such a small museum.Written October 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael FPhiladelphia, PA983 contributionsA great way to see a ton of Dali's sculptures in depth. They have more than just his sculptures of course, but they seem to be the central theme. While they did not offer an audio tour, all the pieces have descriptions by them for you to read. Certainly a must do for Dali lovers, however, I am not sure its a must do for anyone else.
You'll probably spent about 30-45 minutes with ease. Connected to the museum is a small gallery where you can purchase his work or work by other artists inspired by Dali. We went during a weekday and had no problem walking up and purchasing tickets, however, I believe they sell them in advance on-line and that might be worth doing to avoid issues.Written June 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I love original art, and was bound and determined to find something to bring home. I would say at least half, if not more, of the artists are people that were painting/drawing portraits. But there were a dozen or more that did landscapes, still life's, and other types of paintings in a variety of mediums. I was fortunate, the artist I purchased two paintings from actually gave me a mailing tube to put my paintings in for transport back to the US. I had packed a mailing tube in my suitcase for that purpose, thinking I wouldn't get one from the artist. So I guess you never know! Definitely a highlight of our trip!Written August 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- soozywoo1956North East Lincs19 contributionsWe went for the meal and show evening option. Food and service absolutely first class and the show was very good and entertaining. A memorable evening.
We are staying in the Arc de Triomphe area and a taxi in the pouring rain and heavy traffic on the way there. cost us 13 Euros - driver really pleasant. It took about 30 mins.
We left the show at 10.30 the there was a load of taxis outside - the security on the door told us they were ridiculously expensive and to go to the taxi rank over the road which we did. Very light in traffic and took about 8 -10 minutes., He charged us 67 Euros apparently because it's 'night time' we were in by 11pm!! We remonstrated but to no avail.
ABSOLUTELY FUMING - be warned. Really tainted a lovely evening.Written October 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Plus of course I like the resident felines. A lovely place to contemplate life.Written June 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Veronika H81 contributionsA cute little garden and a wall with the words “I love you” in different languages. This spot is very popular among couples, and I would say it’s a nice place for Instagram pictures. However, be ready that it can be really crowded.
I would advise to buy a croissant nearby and spend some time in this garden just relaxing or reading a book. It’s also close to Sacre Coeur, so you can visit these 2 places easily.Written August 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Then it became a fashionable place to live. The provides some great perspectives of the city below. On top is the Sacre Coeur church. Be prepared: Following the "Amelie" movie, this area has been completely discovered and you will run into many tourists. Still it is a good place to wander.Written February 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- scouse1941806 contributionsI wanted to visit the Tomb of Dalida, a very elegant but troubled ‘singing star’ of the 1970s. A larger than life talent, she was born in Egypt, lived in France, was a Beauty Queen, and a popular singer. Dramatic, she took her own life but her ‘drama’ is maintained in the Cemetery of Montmartre. See her rendition of ‘Besamé Mucho’ and you’ll understand!Written June 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - I visited this place🇺🇸🇫🇷🇨🇭🇬🇷🇬🇧Israel35,326 contributionsYes- a nice place: the entrance to a different part of the city- Montmartre. It’s colorful, scenic, picturesque and unique, as is all of Paris.
It was nice to be here and to use the elevator at the metro station.
Correction- the word refers to nuns who spend their lives and devote their time to worship- that’s the real reason for the name of the area (hey- the Sacre Coeur church is the centerpiece and pinnacle of this elevated neighborhood).... it’s certainly not what I wrote in January 2019 from the previous visit.Written August 16, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Eglise Saint Pierre De Montmartre is the 2nd oldest church in Paris ,the oldest is Abbey De Saint Germain Des Pres ,Eglise Saint Pierre De Montmartre dates from 1133 and what we see today is all that remains of the church that was once part of an abbey complex ,the rest being destroyed during the French Revolution ,it's an evocative looking church ,so photogenic and very popular with tourists ,it's a church to most definitely check out if you're in this area of Montmartre and found along Rue Du Mont Cenis.Written May 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul BMaylands, Australia365 contributionsDalida lived in what I think is the nicest area of Montmarte in this mansion of a place but tucked away in a quiet street.. She left her influence on France and Montmartre and is still worshipped in this part of the world.
