    At dusk when the beginning of the dark meets the silent end of the light is my sugestion of the best time to visit this visual masterpiece. The muted lights accent the tower in a palate of the blue-gray sky. A special time is the top of the hour, Eiffel's creation sparkles for the first 5 minutes. Catch it if you can. No! catch it when you can

    The Orsay is my favorite museum in Paris. It had to have taken a huge amount of political power and money to convince Parisians to convert the train depot to the magnificent building on the banks of the Seine which houses an amazing collection of sculptures and paintings. Thank goodness they did.
    One of my favorite things about it are all the benches and places to sit. One can muse over a particular work as long as you like. On my most recent visit, we had a wonderful lunch in the restaurant on the top floor. The food was excellent and prices were very reasonable. We bought our tickets on line for the first morning entrance and avoided the lines.

    Really great museum with plenty to see and a nice garden. The highlight is of course the thinking man! We visited on one of the free dates (first Sunday of each month) and it wasn't too busy if you arrive there early.

    Great museum: a lot on display, and plenty to see/learn about French military history. Could easily spend hours here. The monument is incredibly impressive, as is Napolean's tomb. Book your tickets in advance to avoid queues in Summer. Be mindful to arrive at the the main entrance if visiting before 2pm (can enter from the other side only after 2pm otherwise you'll have to walk all the way around the monument).

    We visited this wonderful museum while an exhibit of Peru/Ayahuasca was running. We were so lucky to get tickets.
    Be sure to have some app like google translate or similar so you can read the captions, it really helped.

    Rue Cler is a delightful market street between the Eiffel Tower and the Rodin Museum. Also nearby are the Brandy Museum and the Musee de L’Armee. I visit every time I come to Paris. The street is a great place to purchase the necessities for a picnic on the green below the Eiffel Tower. Unlike supermarkets, rue Cler is a collection of specialty shops — boulangeries, fromageries, wine, butcher and produce shops. There is great dining at the several cafes as well. Several hotels put you right in the middle of this incredible experience.

    For us the centre piece, (main attraction) of this area is the Eiffel Tower, (when we get up close and personal with this architectural Goliath we are always in awe), coming in second is the Musée d'Orsay, (home of the impressionists), this has to be the best museum in paris in our opinion, the area is wonderfully walkable, we love to walk down Rue de l'Université waiting for the iron lady to show here, on the way back we walk down the seine, which is so peaceful and enjoyable, Stopping at Archipel des Berges de Seine Niki de Saint-Phalle, which are 5 floating gardens with sun lounges to enjoy a picnic on, this is truly an impressive area.

    Parc du Champ de Mars is nice place to get pictures of the Eiffel Tower. It is a long park the takes you from the Le Grand Palais Ephemere museum to the Eiffel Tower. On my visit the park looked pretty nice, pathways were cleared, the grass field were fenced off, seems like they were trying to regrow the grass. I took a stroll at night, and the park has probably the best view of the Eiffel Tower, you can catch the light show, on the top of the hour, take photos and selfies, just an amazing view. Overall, I think that Pars du Champ de Mars is good place to visit, you can walk towards the Eiffel Tower or take pictures.

    PROS
    * Amazing striking and impressive domed structure
    * Solemn tomb of Napoleon

    CONS
    * It's a religious structure

    "I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
    ... because I wanted to descend to the lower level and approach Napoleon's Tomb from ground level, as I had not done that in October 2019

    I found the place solemn and eerie to me- the narrow catacomb walkways before entering the circular walkway around the catafalque.

    WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
    It was free as part of the Paris Museum Pass; I don't think that I would otherwise pay for it

    WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
    No- twice is enough

    ADVICE
    * Admire the church and its dome
    * Descend to the lower level to see the catafalque closer up

    Sadly, this was under renovation when we visited, but the building is beautiful nonetheless. This is one of Paris' hallmarks that must be seen in person

    * it is a nice and big grassy space in front of Les Invalides. It’s nice.
    * Enjoyable and expansive

    CONS
    * It's only decorative and has no useful purpose

    "I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
    ... when I walked from the Petit Palais across the Pont Alexander III and to the Musee des Invalides

    WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
    It is free

    WOULD 'I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
    Not necessarily

    ADVICE
    If you are there, then enjoy it

    Not a very large cathedral - it is the soldiers' church, for the retired soldiers who live in the Invalides. Impressive display of military flags and banners. Like other displays in the Army Museum in the Invalides, there are explanations provided in English.
