Even though we were not able to enter the auditorium, the remainder of the place that we did see is amazing! Even though the auditorium was closed the doors to some of the seats do have windows so you may be able to sneak a peek through those, the auditorium lights were out but I was able to see just a little from the light that went through the door windows.

If you really do have your heart set on seeing the auditorium in-person, you will probably have to buy a ticket to a performance, the website prominently mentions that the auditorium is often closed during tour periods because of performances.

This is a very high end department store so if you are into shopping, this is the place to be! Galeries Lafayette is a gorgeous building with an amazing dome. There is a glass walkway you can stand out on over the inner atrium. If you go to every floor and every department, it will take you several hours as this place is really huge. I see other reviewers talk about a fee but I don't know what that fee is. We just walked into the building and shopped and dined for a few hours. If you can, try to go to the outdoor terrace for sweeping views of Paris!

The baked goods were divine. We had lunch on the top level and as expected, it was pricey. Lots of people visit so if you don't like crowds, this isn't the place to be as it gets very crowded with pushy people.

After my self-guided tour of the Opéra Garnier, I went to the nearby free museum: Musée de Perfume de Fragonard, It was so interesting to learn about the scent combinations of different herbs and to see the demonstration of the Fragonard perfume production process. You can also purchase different scents of Fragonard perfume, eau de cologne and soaps in tbd shop on the first floor.

We were surprised by a cleaned-up facade after some sand blasting. Maybe it was just the schedule? Maybe it was for the Olympics? Either way, the big bold church has never looked better, and since it sits at a crossroads, many tourists are likely to pass by to enjoy it. A little dark inside, from the Napoleon era.

There are lots of nice displays here, particularly the Hall of Mirrors show. A must-do activity once in Paris.

Strolling through the Palais Royale neighborhood, we stopped in to walk through the Galerie Vivienne early one weekday morning. This is a covered mall constructed in 1823. The mosaic tile flooring is exquisite! And signed by the Italian artist...G. Facchina, Mosaicist! A skylight sits overhead. There are interesting shops within...manuscripts and books, home goods, clothing, food, and more. For the photographer, there are interesting shots to be taken!

We visited here to take in the spectacular views from the Sun Club up on the 7th floor. Couple of glasses of champagne with some small shrimp nibbles set us back €40 but it was money well spent. The veuve clicquot was icy cold as you would expect and didn’t disappoint. Stunning. So good I came back later that day with my teen daughter.

Didn’t do any clothes shopping per se but they had all the major designer labels

Very good passage to visit, not always as packed as some of the others if you venture past the Hotel Chopin to the back end of it. Shops of many sorts and eateries.

As a book lover and a great user of libraries, it was a treat to visit the Oval Room at the Bibliotheque National Francaise. After clearing security outside the building, we entered and went right into the Oval Room, found a sofa to sit and take it all in. The central skylight is about 3 stories up. Around the top of the open Oval Room are oculi windows and mosaic designs. We read off the names of the world's great cities written around the top of the room, agreeing and disagreeing about the inclusion of some and what was missing. We enjoyed a 30-minute sit just looking! Meanwhile, the study carrels at the long tables in the center were filled. And it was quiet!

The most amazing street in Paris - foodie paradise. This magical street in Paris takes you back to when bakeries and bistros lined every corner. Whether it is pizza, cheese, wine, fresh pasta, truffles, or some of the best bakeries in Paris this charming street has it all.

Great cinema - if you want to be in the huge auditorium, make sure it says the large screen when you book. VSOT means the film will be in its original language with French subtitles, VF means it will be (dubbed) in French. You don't book seats, so be there about half an hour early to queue and get yourself a good seat.
The screen is truly huge and made the film-watching experience fantastic, as did the lovely starry ceiling and feel of the place - although it's fairly basic decor other than that for seating/toilets/public spaces etc, rather than glamorously appointed. I am 5'6"/ 1.68cm and my knees were leaning against the seat in front - not bad, but anyone taller might want to choose their seats carefully.
You are not allowed to bring in food bought elsewhere - the very friendly staff will take your bag off you if you want to keep any food or drink. You can get it back at the end. You can buy popcorn/drinks in the cinema.
As ever, a few more ladies' toilets would make it a better experience.
