This magical place with great atmosphere. Cozy restaurants and cafes. You can enjoy the great view of lyon. You should try bakeries (specifically pain au chocolates) and you must go to the bouchon, special restaurants of lyon.

Parc de la Tête d'Or is hands down one of my favorite places in Lyon, and it’s easy to see why. This vast and picturesque park offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, with something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you're looking for a peaceful walk, a scenic picnic spot, or a place to connect with nature, this park has it all.

The park’s centerpiece is its beautiful lake, where you can rent a boat and leisurely paddle around, taking in the lush surroundings. The large open spaces are perfect for a relaxing afternoon, with plenty of green lawns and shaded areas to enjoy the outdoors. There’s also a charming rose garden that’s particularly stunning when the flowers are in full bloom.

One of the park's standout features is its zoo, which is home to a variety of animals in a natural, well-kept environment. It’s a fun and educational experience for visitors of all ages. The botanical garden is another gem, showcasing a wide range of plant species in beautifully designed areas.

For anyone who enjoys outdoor activities, there are walking and biking paths, making it a great place for an active day in nature. The park also has several cafés where you can stop for a refreshment while enjoying the tranquil atmosphere.

Overall, Parc de la Tête d'Or is a must-visit for anyone in Lyon. It’s a perfect blend of nature, beauty, and relaxation, and it’s always a place I love to return to for a peaceful retreat. Whether you're spending a few hours or the whole day, this park offers an unforgettable experience in the heart of the city.

Very nice museum. They have a lot of things used in movies, some more famous than others. The ground floor is amazing (The Perfume movie).
The miniatures are also very cool!
Also, I didn't expect it to be so big.

The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon is one of the most impressive art museums I've ever visited. Housed in a stunning 17th-century building, this museum is a true treasure trove of art, showcasing works from ancient times to modern masterpieces. It’s a must-visit for art lovers and anyone who appreciates history and culture.

The museum's collection is incredibly diverse, featuring a wide range of works from renowned artists such as Picasso, Rembrandt, Monet, and more. The galleries are thoughtfully arranged, allowing you to explore different periods and styles of art at your own pace. The Egyptian antiquities section is particularly fascinating, offering a glimpse into the ancient world with beautifully preserved artifacts.

What I love most about the Musée des Beaux-Arts is how immersive the experience is. The museum doesn't just display art; it invites you to truly engage with it. The peaceful ambiance and well-curated exhibits allow you to take your time and appreciate the details of each piece. The architecture of the building itself adds to the charm, with its grand spaces and airy courtyards.

Whether you're a seasoned art enthusiast or someone simply looking to explore Lyon’s cultural scene, the Musée des Beaux-Arts is a highlight that should not be missed. It’s an enriching experience that offers both artistic beauty and historical depth, leaving a lasting impression long after you leave.

Grand old Amphitheatre that is now UNESCO listed. Entry was free. It's worth noting that when I went (August 2024) there was a fair amount of construction here. -1 star for that.

Easy access via the T1 tramway, easy to buy tickets there or online. From the outside you have spectacular architecture..We explored the temporary exhibitions first, starting with the photographic exhibition of Marc Riboud. To our tastes, this was the best of the galleries. Lunch in the rooftop cafe, very edible. Visited the permanent exhibitions after lunch. A well spent few hours

These are a hidden gem in the old town. They can be tricky to find the open ones do have a placard noting the entrance. As noted in the other review, most have been closed, according to our tour guide, unfortunately due to rude tourists yelling and a screaming and giving no respect to the fact people live here, it’s not Disney. Go enjoy but be respectful

Lugdunum - Musée et Théâtres Romains is a captivating destination for history lovers and anyone interested in ancient Roman culture. This museum and archaeological site in Lyon offers a fascinating glimpse into the city’s past, when it was one of the most important centers of the Roman Empire.

The museum itself is an incredible treasure trove of artifacts, including statues, pottery, and tools, which give insight into daily life in Roman Lyon. The exhibits are well-curated and provide detailed explanations of the city’s development, from its founding to its role as a major Roman city. What makes this museum especially enjoyable is how it brings history to life, offering interactive displays that help visitors connect with the past.

The highlight of Lugdunum, however, is the ancient Roman theatre and odeon, which are incredibly well-preserved and transport you back in time. Standing in these grand ruins, you can almost hear the echoes of ancient performances and imagine the bustling life of the city during Roman times. The site also offers a beautiful view of Lyon, making it a perfect spot for both history and scenic beauty.

If you're visiting Lyon, Lugdunum is a must-see. It’s a place where you can truly immerse yourself in the city’s ancient history, with engaging exhibits and remarkable ruins that are sure to leave you with a deeper appreciation for the Roman legacy in France.

The visit is amazing. It's very interesting to see the history of cinema. Very surprised that the color and 3d movie has been invited at the beginning of 20 century.

The Basilica in Lyon is really worth a visit, best way is via the Fenicula railway.

The position of this historical Basilica is very imposing and dominates the area....stunning views right across Lyon to the Alps.

The architecture and freezes are both large, bold, colourful and full of history.

Place Bellecour is a massive square in the heart of the Confluence "island". Large open space, often used for events. One massive statue in the middle. Handy as tourist centre at one end where you can also catch the metro. Beware of pickpockets especially on the metro.
