We quickly realized this was the best way to get a feel for the city and not just see the city. We have taken private tours before, but there is a trade off between a more inexpensive experience and the benefit of meeting other people and hearing answers to questions we hadn't considered. Plenty of opportunities to hop off and explore further.

It gave us a nice overview of Berlin, the history and sites as we went along. The guide was informative, and it was easy to hear him. You could order refreshments on the boat. The seats are just dining chairs, pushed close together, four on each side of the boat. The rows are pushed close together also. The ride itself is only an hour and doesn't really go too far. The boat heads in one direction for a short while, turns around, goes past where we started from, goes a little way and then once more turns around to return to the start. Despite the short distance, we did feel like we had a good idea of the layout and saw some things that we wanted to return to later. We felt like we got to go places me might not have tried without the tour. The cycling was safe and well managed. The route helped us get our bearings for the rest of our trip.

We don’t speak German and this meant we could not understand all of the dialogue but this did not spoil our enjoyment.
