- Steve C5 contributionsThe Rathaus is a fantastic and spectacular example of masnry and woodworking craftsmanship. Very impressive from outside and equally impressive inside.
The rather seemed to escape the very heavy bombing during the war that flattened the city.
There are a number of city models (diaoramas) illustrating the cities history from middle ages to present day. The 1939 and contrasting 1946 displays illustrat the deviation.
The small inclined elevator ride to the top of the tower is also worthwhile- fantastic panoramic 360 degree views over the city and surrounds.
Very enjoyable experience.Written September 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our experience, and we have visited other zoos in the past, is that this is a great zoo for families with children in particular. The animals had plenty of space, and we did not see any behavior among the animals that indicated that the animals were not content. Well organized and suitable for children of all ages. The seal show was particularly popular. Also recommend the boat trip in the park. There were some renovations in the park, but it was barely noticeble. We had good views of all animals, and our youngest really appreciated all the playgrounds.Written July 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stephen CWollongong, Australia790 contributionsVery lovely and impressive formal garden and parkland with multiple smaller interesting feature garden e.g. rose garden. Much of the individual gardens were undergoing maintenance and refurbishment works but it was still very enjoyable to wander through the extensive grounds, lots of statues and lovely outdoor theatre area.
We understand the gardens host many concerts etc, are spectacular in spring and also around Christmas.
Well worth a couple of hours if this is of interest.Written September 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's a big lake with many activities on it and around it. At the northern end just cross the road and walk to the New Town Hall by the reflecting pond.Written June 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is the largest urban city forest in Germany, one of the largest in Europe, and is nearly twice the size of Central Park in New York.
"Das Rad" (the wheel) in the Eilenriede is a relic from ancient Germanic times: a place of worship in which dances and spring games were held. It is one of the last two lawn labyrinths in Germany. One gets free bird concerts every time!Written October 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This place is really good if you have less time to explore. They have a lot of tropical plants and trees. Don't miss the cactus garden.Written October 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Anda NegulescuBucharest, Romania160 contributionsAegidienkirche is one of the sites in Hannover left untouched after the bombing frenzy during the last world war. It stands as a reminder of what war means to common people in any small or big town at times when common sense disappears.
It is impossible to miss it, as it is near the New Town Hall, the Landesmuseum and Maschsee.Written May 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I would also suggest creating more sitting areas for the disabled/old/pregnant/tired people amongst us.Written August 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Elisabeth E1 contributionI loved it except I think it was too crowded and I I personally think you guys need more jellyfish and bigger aquariums for them and more jellyfish merch in the shopWritten July 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MrsWYN-RNorth Yorkshire, UK3,407 contributionsWe visited as part of a WW2 Bomber Command tour of Europe. We stopped here at the museum which is packed with artifacts and information. Items are displayed well with excellent explanations. The museum covers through the early years of flight and the development of aircraft and WW2.
Clearly a labour of love. An excellent visit and recommended, located on the outskirts of Hannover.Written May 26, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia20,819 contributionsThis is a classic German central square Church rebuilt in red bricks you're about to see in almost every German town.
Marktkirche means the main Market square Church, so you can easily conclude it's here from the medieval era - in this case from 14 cent.
It's a Protestant Church (with Martin Luther statue in front), so don't expect lavish interiors. Add to that WWII allied bombing devastations and you're about to see a simple, yet beautiful high vaulted Gothic brick interior along with some modern art bronze statues inside and a golden triptych. Anyway, it's worth entering and it's free.Written June 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
