... river Elbe - so small compared to what it develops into when traveling north - to Hamburg - and the castle in the distance - we were very lucky to have great weather with absolutely breathtaking views - superb!

Colditz Castle Colditz
Thank you Steffi for a spectacular view and perspective of this magnificent historical icon and its place in the history books.
Excellent views from various parts f the castle of the village.
Zwinger Dresden
A HUGE place to visit - magnificent buildings, museums, gardens (would love to see it with the fountains working!) and well worth walking round the walls so you get a good view from every angle.
It captures the essence of the glory years of Dresden and Augustus the Strong. The site itself is spectacular, even before you visit the porcelain, scientific instruments and art galleries.

A definite gem for travelers: the soft colours within the church & dome lend for a serene atmosphere; the architecture and artwork are beautiful; the site first had a church in the 11th century, suffered WW2 destr...

Canaletto Blick Dresden
Fascinating to be at the site that this wonderful work of art was created..
Just admire the buildings - reflect a little - this view is absolutely great - one could spend hours - just looking!!
... in the Old Town contains the Old & New Green Vaults, the Turkish Chamber, huge weapons and art /coin collection plus a lovely restored courtyard leading to the clock Tower which can be climbed and has fab views.
Particularly the Haussmann tower is an outstanding element of the edifice from whose viewing platform a captivating view over the Dresden Altstadt can be enjoyed.

I share the view of another reviewer that the audio guide rather goes over the top in the amount of detail on offer but this is a very minor grumble.
The Mendelssohn House give a good inside view into the life of the composer who also was a gifted painter.
If you have the chance to take the tower tour it is highly recommended as you hear further information and have a great view over Leipzig city center.
The building itself is really beautiful inside, having the atmosphere of old ages, in an excellent condition, despite old age, and is one of the most famous sites of Leipzig - you'll find its photo in all cards of...

it is a far way to go up, but you will enjoy that.. On the top there is a nice view on the landscape around the castle, and you can walk around on small trails.
That and the 360 degree views from the circular path at the foot of the castle and monastery was worth the effort and small cost to enter the grounds.
