What travellers are saying
- Jeff KPittsburgh, PA2,352 contributionsMost of Lutherhaus is currently closed for construction until sometime in 2025. You can still see an exhibit called Literally Luther, however. It does a very good job explaining his life history, warts and all.
If you visit this and the nearby Panorama 1517 you will get a very thorough education on Martin Luther.

It is beautifully made with great architectural details. Martin Luther is buried here.Written October 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Peter BCincinnati, OH432 contributionsThis modest church is where Martin Luther preached. The original pulpit can be seen is the Luther House Museum. Its tucked in behind some shop buildings off of Collegienstrase.Written October 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeff KPittsburgh, PA2,352 contributionsIn planning for our trip to Wittenberg I initially considered this to be an optional stop. I clearly underestimated it as it’s quite impressive.
The audio guide that accompanies the panorama gives a very thorough explanation of Martin Luther and different developments in Wittenberg, circa 1517. It was extremely informative and very well done.
The exhibit is excellent and should not be missed if you visit Wittenberg.Written January 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. All the usual Hundertwasser features are present - the crazy geometry, bright colors, curved tiled surfaces, plus occasional, tantalizing glimpses of the original building. Apparently the kids themselves were recruited to decorate the interior, but it is a working school so there was no opportunity to go inside during the school term.Written September 29, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - parksvisitorMaple Grove, MN1,402 contributionsI thought this was an impressive European town square for what it showcased, but also for its simplicity. It was very quaint with the statues and rathaus, as well as the church in the background, but offered a wide open space surrounded by history, restaurants, and shops.Written May 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Karen V91 contributionsNot far from the Castle Church is a lovely little park containing the Tierpark (zoo). It is small and free entrance. The various monkeys are adorable and all the animals are easy to see. There is a petting pen for the goats. Great place to take the family for a break from history.Written May 14, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stephen SHouston242 contributionsWe only stopped by because we heard that they sell socks in German and English that say "Here I Stand..." - Tonya VPea Ridge, AR782 contributionsIt was interesting to learn more about Melanchthon and his life. He was a very impressive and important figure who often gets overshadowed by Martin Luther’s Fame.Written March 15, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RJK_ChicagoDeerfield, IL588 contributionsWe didn't realize that Lucas Cranach, a painter whose work we have all seen in numerous locations, was a resident in this town. We found out, accidentally, when visiting the Marienkirche in town. When we found out there was a museum, we made sure to check it out. It is wonderful and allows you to see Cranach's works (via photos), his home, and his connections to Martin Luther and other important people and events in the era. Don't miss this gem.Written June 28, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Stephen SHouston242 contributionsWe were on a walking tour and taken by the Luthergarten. As you see in this picture, the "Luther Rose" is built into the garden by uniquely placing a cross above a heart shaped grassy area and a circle around it. We were looking for the LCMS tree, among the 750 trees planted in celebration of the 500th anniversary (2017) of the Reformation. FYI, the LCMS tree is number 139 if you are lookingWritten September 14, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
