We had a really lovely evening spent with a very knowledgeable guide and making some new friends while also getting a deeper insight into some of the food and wine of the local region. The wines that were selected were a lovely representation of local wine varieties, and the tapas that accompanied them were varies, tasty and excellent accompaniments to the wine. The locations that we visited also gave us a great insight into the local food and wine culture of Zaragoza. I'd absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city.

My wife & I recently traveled to Spain with Julia Travel. Our excursion began in Madrid where we spent two nights prior to joining our group. We were met promptly at Madrid airport by shuttle driver who was great (sorry I can’t remember his name) & arrived at the hotel around 4:00 pm. We were exhausted with the flight (where we had a bad experience on Norwegian Airlines) but the hotel staff was awesome. Our first day in Spain started with a three hour sightseeing tour of Madrid that began at another hotel. Honestly the coordination between the tour group & us lacked organization. We braced ourselves for a challenging vacation which was disappointing. I run restaurants in Los Angeles & my wife is a college professor so we’re both very busy working long hours & aligning our schedules to travel in not an easy task. The following morning we were told our Tour Group Leader would meet us at the hotel – given the previous day’s challenges, we were skeptical. However, everything changed when we met our guide Jaime Crespo.

From the moment we met Jaime, we were impressed. He has the immediate impression of putting people at ease. Jaime was friendly, knowledgeable & has a great sense of humor. After picking up the rest of the group at the aforementioned hotel, we were off to Cordoba then two nights in Seville. We had a connection with Jaime joking around while also asking him many questions which he gladly answered. Some members of our group were challenging yet Jaime never once was rattled or showed any signs of frustration – believe me I would have been. Whether we were on the bus, walking tours or whatever else, Jaime was amazingly consistent. In Seville he suggested a few “out of the way” restaurants & encouraged us to see certain sights while the group was on their free time. Jaime’s generosity continued thru Granada & then the highlight of our trip – Valencia. We fell in love with Valencia & might possibly retire there. Jaime shared that he used to spend summers in Valencia when he was a kid while his passion was clearly evident. We ended our tour in Barcelona & honestly by that time we felt like we made a new friend with Jaime.

When the tour officially ended in Barcelona, we stayed an extra day to visit Figueres. Although the tour guide for our day trip was nice enough – it wasn’t the same without Jaime. If you ever book a tour with Julia Travel – please request Jaime Crespo as your guide. To sum it up – our Spanish excursion simply wouldn’t have created the lifelong memories, laughter & wonderful experience without Jaime. He’s one in a million & if you’re fortunate enough to experience his guidance, you will understand exactly what I’m saying. Thanks so much Jaime!

Thoughtful, knowledgeable and friendly is perhaps the best way to describe the experience of this tour. We were met by a very knowledgeable local guide (Reyes) who had organised a great walking tour that incorporated the major sites and landmarks but also a glimpse into the daily lives of the people who live here. The tour contained a lovely mix of history, facts, and insights and was relaxed and fun. I'd highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to not only understand the past but the present of Zaragoza.

So pleased we did this, it’s a great fun way of getting to know a new city. We enjoyed it so much we’re going to do both of the Barcelona tours when we get there.

Jorge was awesome. We met as scheduled, on time, and he gave us a nice condensed version of Zaragoza, very informative and helpful. We then went into the beautiful market to hand pick local fresh produce, cheese, sausauge and lamb for today's feast. We had a very short walk to his beautiful store/cooking area, very modern, super clean and wonderful. Our interactive day was just perfect. Jorge created some wonderful, dishes, apps, and desert. We can not say enough about how awesome Jorge and his presentation was. The highest recommendation, not kidding.

Excellent hospitality and service from our guide Jorge, he was passionate about sharing his city with us and we are very thankful! Our group consisted of two different families and Jorge did an excellent job blending us into one. Father and adult son from Germany and our family of four (2 adults, kids 8 & 11) from the US. My husband and I loved the food, wine, and information about the city. Jorge was also open and shared a bit about his life in Zaragoza, which we love!!

Only down side, and it’s not the tour groups fault, just something to consider for yourselves, my children were not as enthused as me and my husband. Lol!! They hung in there though! And Jorge certainly did his best to include them by selecting tapas that matched their palate, and engaging with them equally. This was fine for us as we want our children to experience different things even if it’s not thrilling.

I would definitely recommend checking out the full lineup from Gastro Rutica 41 and seeing what works best for you.

Overall we had an excellent experience!

    Gracias Jorge

This was a returned trip for my husband after living in Zaragoza for 6 yrs , 40 yrs ago. Found a “new city “ but our tour guide, Pilar, was able to show my husband the new city as well as bringing back the memories he treasured. She is very knowledgeable, in 4 hours we visited most of the sites in the old city and learned about best restaurants to visit and where to buy best Frutas de Aragon !
    We highly recommend this tour.

Jorge's tour began from our Logroño hotel and took us on a short drive to our first winery (Bodegas Anson) where we enjoyed a very interesting tour of their wine making process before sapling their delicious wines in the company of Maria, the winemaker. Then on to a completely different winery, Libre y Salvaje, a while nery which uses some.interwati g methods. We even saw some orange wine being pressed.

Would certainly recommend this tour with Jorge, who was a wonderful host

It was a cold evening in Zaragoza but we made the best of our stroll through part of old town and “el tubo”. This is a great way to experience the culture of the city and we loved seeing people out enjoying the holiday with friends and family. We enjoyed tapas at an excellently curated list of places with great wine choices. We also had a chance to make our own selection at a few places which I really appreciated. Highly recommended tour! Jorge shared his love of the city and gastronomy with us and left us with some tips of more places to explore - which we will!
