Amazing building and very quirky. Although it's a private members' club a series of rooms or salons with a great variety of styles are open to the public for a small entry fee (€5 in 2024 with reductions depending on your category).
It's well worth downloading the audio guide as this gives more information about each room. One of Murcia's don't miss attractions.

In fairness, I don't go to Spain much. Well I've been to the Canaries a few times... but not the real Spain, mainland Spain. But the three or four times I have visited Cathedrals in Madrid, Barcelona and now Murcia, they always seem to have flippin scaffolding up on the outside! The rest of the square a delight and the walk around the perimeter was worth it to see beautiful baroque architecture. But sadly the steel structure... well engineered by the way... together with the masonry saw trying to compete with the average violinist meant 4 stars was the best I could offer in terms of experience.

Striking exhibition of religious carved art. It starts out with a monumental Nativity tableau with hundreds of characters - most of whom have no awareness of what is taking place but are just going about their daily activities. You progress to a series of scenes commencing with the Annunciation and ending with the Flight into Egypt. Finally, you encounter life-sized presentations of the Passion and Death of Christ beginning with the Last Supper. These latter scenes are set in a beautiful church. It really is awesome. Admission is €5 (€4 for seniors). We spent about an hour.

Despite some bad reviews my daughter, her husband and 2 children (ages 10 and 15 visited this attraction. They booked online, read the rules and information so knew what to expect. They chose to pay for parking rather than risk the free wasteland fairly close. They had a fantastic time, the waterpark slides and staff were very good and well supervised. They arrived for 11am opening and at 4pm had to drag the kids off the slides. A little tip, you can carry your flip flops up to the top of the slides and then push them on your arms to come down to avoid hot surfaces and mobile phones are not allowed on the slides. They will be back next year.

Beautiful beach but a car is needed for this area. Restaurants are spread out, it's not really a very accessible area. Be prepared to use your Spanish as very few people speak English

The monastery let us in early and it is worth a look round and it was free. The museum was free and well worth a visit, as i have some limited mobility i was given help to get up and down stairs via a special lift and the help of the security guy. There is also a lift to get to the upper floor. Some of the exhibits were lovely and you can touch some of them which is nice. It gives you a lovely insight into the Moors history and the history of the Monastery. Santa Clara monastery and museum are easy to get to. We would recommend a visit to both and particularly if you have mobility issues. All in all the monastery and museum is well worth a visit.

This is a stunning fortification dominating the local landscape, and well worth a visit if you know you like that kind of thing. We went in the brutal heat of August.
The main thing to note is that the little town on the base of the hill is just quietly getting on with its business and there is absolutely no tourist activity based on the fort except for one sign pointing the way to a 6km walk around the hill below the fort. That was it. We were the only ones there and there is no protection from the sun.

We parked out of the way at the ‘back’ of the sculpture and followed the dirt path that led round to the front, below it. I can understand why the site hasn’t been ‘developed’ for tourism. The path was exposed and residents’ properties backed right up to it. There was a harris fence trying to stop us reaching the platform below the sculpture, but it had fallen over, so we walked the few more metres, and so that is as far as we could go. I found it very moving, looking up at the huge image.

All in all, we were there, on our own, for about half an hour. I hope the little town can continue to go about its business in peace.
