We wanted to get out and see the sights with a knowledgeable guide who could speak English fluently and she really delivered. But this was also my wife's 70th birthday, and when Rafaella found out, she made it her mission to make this tour extra special for my Victoria. I can't give enough praise to this kind hearted, thoughtful and sweet soul. Federico, is very knowledgeable and friendly helping all us tourists to navigate well.
Russel, the bus driver was a safe driver, navigating the streets adeptly.
However, being in Pompeii and standing on to of ole Vesuvius…Mind blown!!
They is so much more gained when someone else is telling you about the sites, than just walking around on your own. The logistics of meeting our tour operator and getting transported to and from Pompei from Naples went pretty smoothly. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and provided a good tour. While her English was good, she also spoke with a thick accent making it somewhat difficult to understand even with the headsets provided. The tour lasted just under 2 hours. We spent about an hour getting to Pompei from Naples and an hour getting back into the city. This allowed for a good overview of the site, and we hit many of the highlights, but I realized afterward that we probably only saw about 25-30 % of what is there. Ideally, it would have been nice to take the 2-hour tour and then wander around on our own for the rest of the afternoon but of course this would have required us to find our own way back to Naples. He not only shared the history but the legends of the areas and his love of the regions foods. Alfonso suggested we try this wonderful restaurant in Pompeii it was unbelievably delicious. Thank you Alfonso. Then we were introduced to Andrea for the 2 hour tour in Pompeii, again we were extremely lucky to have such an informative and engaging tour guide. He had a great personality and made the tour so much fun and interesting. Thank you Andrea. - Baggot1210 contributionsWhat a brilliant day - our tour guide Isabella met us and we were driven in the minibus by Luigi. They made sure we had all the information we needed and also made it fun. The specialist guide at Pompeii was so well informed and interesting & our 2 hours there passeed so quickly. With it being low season there were not many lunch venues open, which was disappointing but the sun shone all day long so that kept us smiling. - Terry NMelbourne, Australia13 contributionsFascinating story. You cover a lot of territory. I feel they could offer an English tour every hour every day, maybe would keep numbers down, there were 45 in our group!
The section where you have to crabwalk is pretty awful but really only lasts two minutes at most...Don't bring a back pack or bulky bag with you.
I struggled with some steps at times, one part I think was 120 steps, if you have foot issues, dicky knees or hips it would be too much.
The look at the theatre was very interesting to and the Nero connection was an added touch.
I recommend it tho as a fascinating look into Naples history.
It can be a bit confusing that there is another tour almost across the road that can be confused for this one. We were split into 2 groups with Michele being the leader of one and Luigi being the leader of our group. He was amazing and explained every step so we were never wondering what is next. - Ruby M4 contributionsWe took the Pompeii and Amalfi Coast tour and absolutely loved it! Our guide Gabriel Casavega and driver Bruno took fantastic care of us!
Gabriel even organised a transfer from Pompeii back to Atrani where we were staying during the tour, making sure we were looked after beyond the tour itself.
The weather was fantastic on the day we went and a last minute boat ride was organised for us which meant we got to see the coast from another perspective. Lunch/ street food/ gelato recommendations in Amalfi were plentiful and fantastic and we had enough time at each stop. (Also had good recommendations for Naples!)
The guide at Pompeii was very informative and well paced - we learnt a lot !

Our tour guide provided lots of intriguing details about their culture. Lunch was choice of gnocchi, salad or pizza. It was just OK. Then, we left for Mt. Vesuvius. While the hike is only about 1 mile up, it is pretty much straight up hill and full sun! It is worth it! Looking inside the crater is pretty cool and the view of the coast is incredible! Then we were driven to Pompeii and had some commentary from the guide. We had a long guided visit through the ruins of Pompei. Ludo was very knowledgeable and seemed passionate when showing us around. We then had Lunch in a pizzeria near the ruins, Lunch was ok but we didn't get to choose what we were given (for efficiency). There was some different food for vegetarians but some pizza had meat on them so we just didn't get as much pizza as others which was a bit disappointing. We were then driven back to Naples and Ludo continued talking about the city and showed us around. After a little bit of free time we driven back to the station.
