Io you pass near Palazzo Massimo and you want to have a rest and a coffee or some snacks, this cafeteria is at the top. Furnished in an elegant way, cosy, not very crowded. You can seat and stay relaxed (there are also books if you like ). The service is appropriate and the food is very good. There is also a rather acceptable toilet. Very suggested. Adequate prices.

What a lovely museum. We came here 20 years ago and brought the kids this time. It was larger than we remembered. There was so much to see in so many sections. All the sculptures were amazing. There was a special exhibit going on New Year's day and the paintings were so impressive.

An interesting Crypt and gallery. I admit I didn't cope well with the human bone art and uncharacteristically felt faint and nauseous. The staff were so kind, fanning me and getting me a seat and cold water- so thoughtful and non judgmental. I knew it would be a challenge, but underestimated the psychological impact (i felt a little horrified). My 18y old daughter coped better. Definitely not suitable for children or soft hearted people ike me 🙂.

They have free lockers for visitors.

Thank you to the sweet people who helped me 🤩

So very pleased it's open again. The audio guide is very good, the original town house was v extensive, a v wealthy patrician family domus.so elegant and sophisticated. The visit gives you a glimpse of the luxury ,interior frescoes, multi coloured marble floors..thermal bath,.its all here..

This is such an under rated attraction in Rome. Twice we have been it has been empty. You can walk right down to the front of the building, up the four storeys above for some amazing views. Think of it as a Roman shopping complex. The staff however both times have been awful. This time the man blocked our way saying we have to put bags into lockers. Not a problem as such but every other person there had bags bigger than ours (smal side bags) no idea why he targeted us? Needs a good few hours to see it all.

If you’re looking for a museum that will provide history Beyond the masses, this is it. Rome conquered the Etruscan people, and improved their existing civilization. If you are a history buff, this is a “don’t miss” museum in the heart of Rome. In 2 hours you can take your knowledge of the Roman Empire back another thousand years. It’s very enlightening, and unique.

Our last place to visit before heading home. Very interesting museum with some incredible artefacts, the scale of this Roman building is incredible, only spoiled by yet another church being built in it

Interesting experience mostly for the kids who had the opportunity to come close to some of the Da Vinci phenomenon's most known inventions and paintings. Very friendly staff, interesting gift shop.

I admit when we walked in I thought it was a waste of money as there is no signage. We thought it was two rooms and had we not followed someone who has having a tour we would never have seen the lower parts! A great way to see the underground houses. It’s amazing this complex is over the road from the Colloseum, you would never know.

This is a vast palace, be prepared for many stairs, stuffy rooms.no cafe, drink station or seats or lift offered to the less mobile, The museum is full of wonderful artwork, and the recent marconi exhibition was v good .My complaint is that it is not visitor friendly, and certainly not family friendly. More seating better loos, well sited lift, and a guide to the rooms and contents would be welcome. Even the drink machine wasn't working!..so take drinks with you.

A museum that has always been on my list to visit! Its in a very good location literally alongside the Spanish steps. It was a bit smaller than I imagined but still full of Interesting artefacts and curios from the lives of Keats, Shelley and co.
I was a bit disappointed that the video of Byron wasn't working but there was still lots of information on him available. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, id love to return if there was an option for a guided tour to learn more.

We try to visit while in Europe whatever can help us understand WWII better, whether going to a museum or a camp or a specific tour related to the war. We had to research to find places in Rome and we visited this museum before going to the one in the Jewish Ghetto. No, it's not fancy, and most of it is in Italian, and the English audio guide doesn't always sync up with the numbers on the pictures... but it's pretty clear that this place is a labor of love. And if you are sincerely interested in becoming educated--especially as an American tourist who has not experienced being occupied by a foreign nation--there is much to contemplate here.

The museum is bigger than we expected, and filled with artifacts. There is enough English to understand most of what is being presented. It is a somber place, and you look out the windows on this nice street and can think for a bit about what it must have been like to be locked up and tortured while some semblance of life went on outside.

If there was a hefty charge to visit I might understand some of the complaints about language accessibility, but there is no charge (though donations are appreciated). There is plenty to see and reflect on. It's too damn easy to forget how bad people come to power. Highly recommended.

A very large and impressive site about a 25 minute bus ride from Rome city centre. The Roma pass is valid but, as we didn't have one, we spent €8 to get in. This gives access to the villa, Santa Maria Nova and some of the other sites in the archaeological park and is valid for several days. Not as well known or popular as Villa Adriana at Tivoli the Villa dei Quintilli is certainly worth a visit. You are likely to have the huge site virtually to yourself. The museum is very small but more than adequate and the staff very helpful and friendly (note...the staff I spoke to had limited English but that matched my limited Italian so we cancelled each other out, got along fine and made ourselves understood). The entrance is via the Via Attica Nuova (not Via Appia Antica unless you're happy to just look through the gates). We took the 118 bus service which ends it's service right at the entrance before turning round and returning to Rome city centre. If you choose to go by bus probably get on at either Piazza Venezia or Circus Maximus (across the road from the Metro entrance/exit)as the hawkers and beggars can be a nuisance at the Colosseo bus stop. Bank on spending 2 or 3 hours here, possibly more. You can walk back towards the city via the Via Appia Antica visiting more sites ic you want and jump back on the 118 when you've had enough walking for the day.
