The church is unique because it has the tomb of St Nicholas. We saw many pilgrims from different countries. It is worth a visit if you are in Bari.

I loved wandering around the narrow alleys of the old town and the spacious squares where you can find ice cream parlours, cafés and restaurants. I particularly liked the terraces of the restaurants, where even in January there were still a lot of people. We enjoyed walking through the labyrinthine, branching streets, between the patinated old houses and decorative palaces. It was also interesting to see the women making traditional homemade pasta.

Turning right after the criss crossing shopping streets of Murat you arrive to the part of town constructed close to water. An Art Deco hotel is one of the elegant buildings lining the sea boulevard with lanterns and benches.

This is the oldest building in the city, and dates back to the 13th century. It is also the only church in Bari with a bell tower.

The beautiful red building is a functioning theater and music venue. It was badly destroyed in a fire 30 years ago and most areas are reconstructed according to the original plans of 1903.

Piazza del Ferrarese is a nice place. There are several restaurants to chose from. It is located near to the sea and nice to walk around.
We really enjoyed walking in here!

The historic centre of Bari is worth a visit for all visitors. The old houses, palaces, the many churches (San Nicola, San Sabino etc.) and the large squares are very interesting. Sitting on the seafront or wandering aimlessly around the narrow cobbled streets is a great experience. It has a special vibe.

I enjoyed my visit to this imposing fortress. It has a long and complicated history. The multi media displays projected onto the castle walls inside explain the history well and make the castle come alive. This along with the archaeological remains and artifacts made it well worth the €10 entrance fee.

A little tricky to find the street. Everything is over priced when it’s tourist season but worth the experience and buying the handmade pasta and other goodies from these locals is a good way to give back to their community. Calabria is our favorite region to visit as we own a house in Calabria. Love the food way better than northern Italy!!!

Excellently laid out and explained. Older information boards in Italian but the newer audio-visual explanations in Italian and English. A fascinating exposition of the sacred sites and burial grounds built one on top of the other over many centuries.
Get the combined ticket (valid for a week I think) with the diocesan museum. Worth every penny!

Its a Sandbeach and the water is very clean..
and even though you are in the middle of the center you don't notice any traffic or noise.
But you have to bring your picnic blanket and an umbrella (there are people standing on the beach selling umbrellas). A large umbrella costs 20 euros.
moreover there are no toilet or snack bar..

Piazza Mercantile is a typical Italian place. This square is in the old part of town and there are several eateries, bar and cafes all around.
