What travellers are saying
- nsander219Chelmsford, UK669 contributionsThis is the must see view of Florence that appears on a vast amount of publicity and postcards.
If you are fit you can walk up from the river side. You can see the Piazzale from the city so judge for yourselves whether you are able. There are city buses and the Hop On Hop Off stops there. As we had a ticket for the HOHO we used it to come back and walk down.
Recommended just for the memory (rather like the Mount of Olives view in Jerusalem).Written March 7, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. While waiting (or maybe not), appreciate the work of the living artists, working and displaying their paintings and others, and if you like, buy one! It´s a real thing, a true souvenir while, at same time, you contribute to a real person and not a chinas's comunist part seeling trade of slavery.

- pragmaticmanLondon, UK20 contributionsI booked ahead to get in early (8:15) and it was really worth it. Great views of ‘David’ and could admire the work quietly, before it got too busy later.
Do go the Musical Instruments Museum as it is really fascinating. I recommend you get an audioguide as it has audio of the instruments being played which really added value to my visit. I had never heard of a ‘tromba marina’ which is a one-stringed instrument that sounds like a trombone - very surreal, but enjoyable.Written March 13, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I used it a couple of times and enjoyed my food. Wandering waiters will take drink orders for you and deliver the drinks (for neo extra charge). If you're enjoying Florence and don't want to take the time it does to sit down in a restaurant, this is a good choice and is centrally located. Unlike restaurants, there is no cover charge, too. ;-)Written February 2, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cathy LToronto, Canada230 contributionsPiazza del Duomo is definitely one of the top attractions in Florence.
The square was bustling with tourists, as expected, and I noticed that restaurants and cafes around the piazza charge a bit of a premium due to the location. However, there are plenty of options nearby if you’re looking for something more affordable.
I was amazed by the sheer number of visitors, all waiting patiently to enter the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. Besides the cathedral, the Bell Tower, the Baptistery, and numerous shops and cafés make it a vibrant public space worth visiting.Written February 23, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jar399Los Gatos, CA55 contributionsThe history in Santa Croce is simply amazing. Our guide Dan Harper (family friend) —an expat from the States—was absolutely priceless.
You can reach him at: danharperflorence@gmail.com.
From the tombs and the incredible journey of this church to the stories of Galileo, Michelangelo, Dante, and the Medici family, the experience was unforgettable. Dan’s knowledge of every nook and cranny, every fascinating coincidence, and even the friars who shaped its history made the tour come alive.
The 2.5-hour tour was a true highlight of our trip. And as a bonus, Dan’s local restaurant recommendations were ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, all on a ⭐️⭐️ budget.

- Amy S19 contributionsYOU HAVE TO VISIT PALAZZO VECCHIO!! Honestly the outside is so pretty but the inside is breathtakingly beautiful! The staff were very friendly and really helpful as I have to use a walking stick and the lifts are in a closed off section they allow you through. The architecture is just so incredible it's worth every penny, you can get round in an hour but I could of easily spent all day here!Written March 4, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ratana G1 contributionGreat place on a rainy day if you’ve got kids/toddlers to entertain. Was worried it wouldn’t be all that interactive for our 19month old but there was plenty for her to interact with. Would highly recommend.Written October 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dimitris LSydney, Australia54,419 contributionsCampanile di Giotto was constructed in the 14th century. The person responsible for its building was the artist Giotto whose name the tower bears. It's a beautiful building and the views from the top are absolutely wonderful, provided you can climb the 414 steps up the tower and then go down the same way! It's much easier than it might sound!Written November 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
