Not so special. It's just a iron wildhog in a part of a plaza in Firenze. Not deserve a special move to see it. We found it by casuality and we saw that people scratch his nose (don't know why).

A very impressive and beautiful fountain situated in the Piazza della Signoria (Signoria Square), in front of the Palazzo Vecchio. It's fascinating that it dates back to the 16th century and the intricacy of the artwork in marble and bronze is incredible. And the water gushing from this fountain was very tempting on the hot day that we came here back in August.

It was nice to view this lovely piece of artwork without paying any entrance fees or waiting in line for ever...

A beautyful fountain that you can see on your way up to the Piazzale Michelangelo. Quiet area and usually not very crowded.

Charming little fountain in the courtyard of Palazzo Vecchio is a nice start of the Palazzo tour. The entrance to the courtyard is free and it looked lovely in its festive Christmas decor.

While walking across Ponte Vecchio you will likely notice this bust monument of Italian sculpture Benvenuto Cellini (1500-1571) who created the extraordinary Perseus with the Head of Medusa located in the open air Loggia dei Lanzi just a few minutes walk from the bridge and monument amongst other important works during the 16th-century.

What you will see is actually a fountain monument that was the work of Raffaello Romanelli in 1901 in commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Cellini's birth. He is depicted as an aged, bearded and serious figure. The bust rests upon a decorative pedestal with four small shell basins where water spills when operational. Worth a quick look-see if you enjoy monument viewing during your travels.

These are two fountains that flank the equestrian statue of Ferdinando I at Piazza Santissima Annuziata. They are the work of Italian sculptor Pietro Tacca and were erected on the square in 1641. They are considered masterpiece works of Mannerism with a marine theme.

At each fountain you will see pairs of sea monsters, back to back, from which water pours downward from their mouths into elongated basins which creatively have upward tilting, creature-like mouths of their own. From these mouths spout upward flows of water also falling into the basins. It is a clever and beautiful fountain design that achieves balance and symmetry. Well worth spending a few minutes to enjoy if your are a fan of fountain and sculpture.

This is a fairly simple circular fountain on the west end of Piazza di Santa Croce topped with a Florentine Lily from which water spills into a small basin below. At the sides of the fountain base there are two lion heads from which water spills into two small shell basins as well. Have a look while sightseeing in the area.

Shortly after crossing over Ponte Santa Trinita into Oltrarno, you will see the Fontana dello Sprone at Via dello Sprone and Borgo San Jacopo. This is the work of Bernardo Buontalenti (1608) and considered to be one of the most charming public fountains in the city. A fun minor attraction to find if planning on doing a bit of sightseeing on the Oltrarno side of the city.

You will find a elegant curved basin which bends slightly around both sides of the street corner as well as a grotesque face just above from where water spills into the basin. Unfortunately, the fountain was not in operation during our last visit. Still worth a look-see is passing by and interesting in monument viewing.

This is a gorgeous fountain located on the ground of the Pitti Palace.
You can appreciate the fountain especially if you view it from the Boboli gardens.
