After 460 steps up and then down the Cupola in the Duomo, I decided to climb another 414 steps up and down in the bell tower straight afterwards.
Please note backpacks are not allowed of any size!!
It was great to see some of the bells and how the tower was constructed, but unlike the Cupola where nothing obstructs the view for photos, the bell tower has wire mesh, which isn't suitable for DSLR cameras as the lenses are too big for the mesh. As a result of this I did not climb to the very top as it would have been a waste of time.

The Arnolfo Tower is part of the Palazzo Vecchio compound at Piazza della Signoria. It is 95 metres tall and dates back to the Middle Ages. You can see it quite well from various locations around the city due to his height. Visitors can climb the 460+ steps up the tower to the platform area from which you are afforded 360 degree views of the city. Tickets can be purchased as part of your visit to Palazzo Vecchio or separately.

Very cool and old watchtower from the Roman Empire. Very nice to see how it has survived and kept outside the historic center.

We discovered this tower whilst on our walking tour.

Its one of the tallest surviving towers of Florence with a small garden on its side towards Borgo San Jacopo.

The top floor of the tower was added after the 14th Century. It has a creeping vine going up the tower.

Incredibly unprofessional: the venue is SO great, the menu looks good, the service is underwhelming to say the least - probably, understaffed and certainly, without basic training.

We ordered 1 starter, 2 main courses - first main was served, 1/2 hour later the starter. Second main never arrived at the table, was however on the bill. The waiter was not surprised, didn’t offer any appologies, but did provide a new and correct bill. Thanks for that!

If in the surroundings, check out Torrino de Santa Rosa, reflect on its great potential, but don’t order.

A long climb to the top but worth the view when you get there. There are a number of platforms to view as you climb. I paid an entry fee of 15 Euro at the booth inside the base of the tower.

The Marsili family, one of the oldest in the city, built this tower in the 11th or 12th century. In the 1800’s a goldsmith, who added the distinctive terracotta additions to the façade (2 saints flanking the Annunciation, which is above the door), bought it
