Vasco Fernandes (1475 — 1542) was a Portuguese painter, one of the most famous Portuguese painters of the Renaissance. He is widely known by the nickname Grão Vasco. The museum contains his main works. The museum has 2 floors, in addition to the works of Grao Vasco, you can see a lot of interesting things.
    I recommend.

Lovely large, baroque, austere cathedral from the 14th century. Amazing how they preserve the original tiles on the walls.

We ate at the Troppo Squisito, Italian Restaurant, on the top floor of the Mall it is spacious and welcoming. We found the service a little slow – probably because we ordered a meat dish - something more complicated than the pizzas which came quickly. The large restaurant did not create an intimate atmosphere but it was a pleasant retreat from the bustle of the shops outside.
By contrast at the Jota cake pastelaria on the lowest floor of the mall there is a cafe which sells ice cream, cakes and drinks. All around this large space activities for children of all ages can be found. You need to order what you want from the cafe – there is no table service – then pay your money into a machine which gives you change and a receipt with which you then redeem your purchases. A great place to take children.

Due to the “Covid19” pandemic, we are visiting close to where we are living, so we had choosen for this trip : “The Quartz Museum” the first museum dedicated to only one mineral, quartz. It is located on Monte de Santa Luzia, the construction started in the year 2006, The Museum was built in the crater left at Monte de Santa Luzia for several years of exploration by the Portuguese Electric Furnace Company, which abandoned the site in 1986. The structure includes a science center, exhibition rooms, auditorium and library. The structure, is part of the "Route of Museums and Museological Spaces of the Center Region". It is worth to being visited, and realy good for couples with children, there is also enough parking place for the cars. When driving you can use those Coordenates GPS – N 40º41´48.51” and W 7º55´16.30”
This coordenates will bring you on the parking from the museum.

Such a lovely place! It was great to walk through in the evening. We went around Christmas, so there were little booths set up with trinkets. The cathedral is easily accessed via the park and it is lit at night by a large “VISEU” sign. The whole place is lit well, actually. The playground looked fun, and overall the park is very safe. Women and children walked alone without fear or apprehension. As a tourist, this was a welcome experience! I do recommend going after dark, even if you have kids with you - it’s just so pretty!

Deborah and I enjoyed an expresso here followed by a nice stroll around the grounds and managed to get really close to the very tame peacocks that strut around in large numbers

This is a must see for anyone who goes to Portugal. Words will not do this site justice, you need to see this in the flesh. So glad I had the oppotunity.

It was built at the end of the 18th century.
The church has three altars in the neoclassical style, on the throne of the main altar rests the image of Our Lady of Mercy.
There is a museum, for a small fee.

Yes, here we go again, another Church, but honestly, these churches are amazing and a must see. The workmanship, the tiles, the ceilings are just mind blowing!

On our way to the Douro Valley, we decided to stop in the Dao Region and found this welcome center to get an overview. The building itself is beautiful! Here, they showcase wineries of the area, provide information, and offer wine tasting. From some of the Dao wineries. We weren’t really sure where we wanted to go but Isabel at the welcome center was incredibly helpful. She took her time explaining the area, making suggestions based on our goals, made reservations for both lunch at one winery and a tasting at another. She took her time, spoke perfect English and was extremely informative and personable. We felt really lucky to have come here to start our wine tour.
