Favorite museum in Oslo. Tells the story of Thor Heyerdahl and his journeys on the oceans. Of course, the story has been told in books and on film, but at this museum you can see the actual boats and artifacts up close and in person. The museum takes you through the entire life of Thor and his mates. You'll see the original Kon-Tiki and the Ra; however, the best parts of the museum are the artifacts that were used on the boats as well as those artifacts found while exploring the Polynesian islands. If you are a fan of the Kon-Tiki or Thor Heyerdahl, you won't want to miss this museum when visiting Oslo. It is just a short boat ride across the bay to see the museum, or you can take a bus around the bay to visit. Be sure to have some extra time to really enjoy all of the exhibits and artifacts on display at this great museum.
