- DBSNew England81 contributionsIf you like your skiing adventurous and filled with powder but prefer glamping over fancy hotels, this is the place to be. The skiing isn't extreme; if you can handle advanced runs at resort, you can handle this terrain. The base camp isn't fancy- heated insulated tents and a very nice common tent for dining and socializing. We've been here twice and the biggest change is the helicopter to get to base camp from Smithers which saves several hours of transit time, and the improved staff quality. This year's 2022 staff is more competent than 2020 staff, who were often trying to do several different jobs at the same time. If the transit to Smithers seems impossible to coordinate, ask about flying to Terrace which has more flights. Sometimes, they can accommodate Terrace. A very special experience being in remote Northern BC on Native land in the dark of winter!Written March 1, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KirbsSohamEly, UK230 contributionsYou need a head for heights if you want to walk to the middle to get the perfect shots with your camera, but well worth it, maybe not on a windy day!
Exceptional views, an old basic structural bridge but very strong & single lane traffic - you just take turns.Written August 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Perhaps a brochure to use on a self guided tour would be helpful. But we loved it anyway. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Worth a visit.Written June 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ElvisAndrusArlington, TX978 contributionsIt is a familiar place to me and I have all sorts of fond memories. Recently visited and appreciated the grooming of the trails. Never too crowed. Circle of the lake takes about an hour. Shorter options available.Written November 9, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PookyCakeVictoria, Canada14,887 contributionsThe New Hazelton Lookout & Waterfall represented yet another stop on our Mid-Summer sojourn. Getting here turned into a minor adventure in itself because GPS – and specifically Google – couldn’t seem to adequately lock down the Waterfall’s trailhead/location. We turned off Yellowhead 16 and onto Laurier Street, but then GPS had us make multiple turns on various residential roads. We eventually ended up on a narrow dirt road which, I assume, leads up to some kind of treatment plant? Anyway, after learning we’d been led astray, we turned GPS off and re-traced our steps back to Laurier and . . . drove in a straight line as if we were just coming off Highway 16. And guess what happened? We magically ended up at our destination ;) I don’t know why, but the whole thing made me chuckle!
In any event, the walk to the waterfall is easy and straightforward – approximately 15 minutes if you’re moving at a leisurely pace. While the waterfall isn’t very large, it’d nevertheless a lovely sight to behold. The soothing rush of the falls and serenity of the forest are enough to put your mind at ease, even if just for a few minutes, before you snap back to reality and hit the road again.Written January 7, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It’s a great rest stop for cars and trailers, huge parking lot with sani-dump.
Nice clean bathrooms during the day and best of all the tourist visitor center is also an AMAZING gift shop of Indigenous art. Beautiful artisan pieces worthy of a stop. Also, on second floor check out the “pussy cat”.Written August 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
