What travellers are saying
- France L21 contributionsIt is an experience not to miss! the view of Trapani from the funicular is stunning. Remember however that it only works when there is no wind. Erice is very high and can be pretty wendy. We were luck to be able to experience that ride!Written December 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AlbertSalichsManresa, Spain24,028 contributionsChiesa Madre is the cathedral of Erice, a very cute Middle-Ages town in North-West Sicily. It was built in the 14th Century and it has some Barroque altars inside the main nave. From the outside, it is a very nice combination between the main nave, the bell tower and the square, where it is located. Inside it is a majestic building. Very nice. I recommend you buy the Erice card to use in almost all sightseeing visits.Written November 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Leif BPietarsaari, Finland3,075 contributionsToday we visited the charming montain village Erice. It was nice to walk trough the narrow streets of one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, at it says. The symbol of Erice is the Castello di Venere, built by the Normans. When building it, they used materials from the Temple of Venere Ericina from which it takes its name. Unfortunatily it is now closed, so we could only see it at the outside.Written May 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AlbertSalichsManresa, Spain24,028 contributionsBorgo Storico Erice is the old town of this very cute Middle-Ages town called Erice and it is located in the North-Western part of Sicily Island. It is a very nice town, where you can walk and relax and visit a lot of monuments that are included in the Erice Card, which you can buy in the tourist office. We visited it in last December and pitifully some parts are closed like the castle and Bailo Gardens, but we could visit some churches, the main cathedral, we could go up to the bell tower and enjoy the views and also we visited some remains of the old town like gates walls and palaces. Also, we visited Torreta Peppoli, from which you can see the best views of the coast and Palermo. Very beautiful place.Written November 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
