A lovely tranquil place, which houses a little chapel with beautiful Christian art and decoration commissioned by the Pope who commissioned Leonardo to paint the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. That Pope was born and raised in Savona and this chapel was a homage to his parents.

It’s only €3 to enter and we’ll worth a visit.

A simple fortress with cute bars and restaurants. They sometimes do music events at night, and they are very fun as they are out in the open and have a very large stage.

The visit to the museum was very interesting and is recommended for anyone interested in the history of Apple Computer. All major Apple models are shown. The museum director could unfortunately hardly speak English, but still made a really great effort to show me as much as possible in the exhibition. There are some highlights to see, such as a small robot that can be programmed with the Apple II. Or a transparent Mac Portable, as well as an original Apple I circuit board and much more. In any case, I enjoyed the visit very much.
Opening hours: Saturday afternoon and sunday morning.

We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who also gifted us with a bag of delicious mini Easter eggs.
The museum is very well curated and the team behind it is fresh and young.
I'm very glad I've finally visited this gem in the heart of the city.
    Will definitely come back! :)

Strolling around you come in front of this impressive monument, with a 19century building in background.

Savona is the main port for Costa and its obvious by some of the Costa signage throughout the town, we arrived by cruise and you could not dock any nearer to the town its about 60 mts from the cruise terminal and wham your in the town which is great you can see your ship from a lot of places on your tour, the town is quite, modern with heritage as well and it has a good vibe, of all our cruise stops this was our favourite by a mile, would come back for a weekend visit, we loved it, the beach, the port, the fare, the castle, the shops, the people, its all there.

Another cathedral in Italy that surprises you in size and beauty considering the fact it is not in a major city. I thought that we would zip in for 5-10 minutes max. We spent maybe 20-30 minutes and we could have spent more, but we got out late and we wanted to see the Castle. Google now says it is closed permanently. I could not find any info on that online or almost any info about the cathedral, itself. Not everything is on the net. It would be a shame if it had closed. Many churches have either closed, have very limited days and hours open or you can’t find out what the status is, even if you go to the church and look for some indication on when it is open. This is particularly true in Italy. Even if you are not Christian, it’s a shame that these wonderful buildings are not even open to be seen. Oh well.

The Torre Leon Pancaldo or Torre della Quarda, commonly called "Torretta", is a medieval tower located on the port of Savona, at the entrance to the central Via Paleocapa, and is considered the symbol of the city.
After the destruction of the walls by the Genoese in 1527 the tower remained isolated and in the following centuries underwent a series of alterations. In particular, the entrance side, which once had to be open and covered by a barrel vault, was walled up and the interior of the tower was divided into several floors.

The tower, like the square where it stands, is today dedicated to Leon Pancaldo, a savonese navigator who accompanied Ferdinando Magellano during his first circumnavigation around the world.

Another tower to visit in Savona. Nothing too exciting but it is another Savona landmark. There are places to sit and it is nearby to restaurants and bars....

The idea of a pinacoteca from a town that looks so 'backwater' like Savona would be world class seems odd, but in truth Savona had a great past and the art colelction left from that time attests to it. Besides the Pinacoteca has also modern art and Savona had its range of artists and collectors and from one of the collectors the present paintings and sculptures were donated to the Pinacoteca. One cannot guess from the outside how interesting it is so get in, climb the steps, get your ticket and enjoy something different but artistically and culturally rich
