What an amazing experience!! The family that hosted us was fabulous. There was lots of learning, laughter, smiles and joy!!! We would all do this again!!
Very nice from the outside, not so much inside. They have a movie very well made but in italian! With no subtitles! What a shame, the story of the conclave would be interesting to know.skip the museum but admire the duomo sobriety, beautiful
Palazzo Farnese is amazing. Brilliant frescoes cover the walls and the Royal staircase is stunning. I have never seen anything like this before. And everything went extremely smoothly. We were picked up by a white Mercedes with a very knowledgeable and helpful driver _ Andrea. He told us all about the history of the Farnese Palace and about the countrydide we travelled through. This included crops grown, an Etruscan aqeduct, villas passed and a lake. As much of Viterbo was closed due to an upcoming public holiday he offered us a great alternative_ a visit to the Etruscan tombs at Tarquinia_ a UNESCO world heritage site. And for lunch he took us to a small restaurant serving locally produced food. The trip was superb and excellent value for money.

Overall a very interesting tour and fascinating day. You spend a lot of time driving between locations. Our guide was a little disappointing - she had only done the tour twice and was lacking in some insider knowledge and was hard to follow at times. It also always seemed like we were running late and had to rush. It was not clear that while you stop for lunch it is not included in the tour ticket price.
That said it was fantastic to get outside of Rome and see parts of the rural countryside and a very interesting part of Italys history.
