When you visit this cave church you realise why Mel Gibson chose this site as the place to film the last supper.
We stayed for around 1.5 hours - don't rush, sit outside and enjoy sculpture and views as well.

Its amazing that you can walk thru this historic area and look at the caves across the valley as well as take in a view of the city of Matera.
All Sassi neightborhood is excellent for explorers, just start walking from one point and let it surprise you with all the amazing views from different corners of the old town.
