    A curious blend of beauty and desolation
    This is a lovely spot to walk up to from Eus as there are several routes to choose depending on fitness and the air temperature . The recently restored chapel and its newly installed bell makes a stark contrast to the sheep farm surrounding it . Michael the local shepherd is usually willing to talk as long as your dog is firmly kept on the lead . Sadly his was the last inhabited house amidst this heap of crumbling ruins . It burnt down about 8 years ago. He now lives in a caravan provided by the mayor of Eus. Each Pentecost there is an Apelec attended by a diaspora of descendants whose families who deserted it from 1930s) The grave yard was been desecrated, its metal grave markers pillaged ,and is now a unmarked little field beside the church . The priest handed round a bucket of rose petals which we dropped on the ground to remember the deceased.during the Apalec I last attended. Comes children were educated in Eus a good hour's walk downhill, usually taking lunch with other relatives in the village, before returning in all weathers. Stunning views of Canigo (2700m) due south.

    Beautiful church in an even more beautiful village. A big climb! View and the church is worth it. Take into account an unlit church, so it pays to take a good camera or a mobile phone that is well exposed.
    Anyway very idyllic all through those narrow alleys.

    Excellent for a day out with kids
    Excellent place a for day out to spend kids energy. Many different activities from arborism to ninja parkour. Kids spend the day from opening to close. Also a nice tasty snack (5 euro sandwiches, pizzas, ice-creams, drinks). Plenty of shaded areas and tables too.
