They have a set up in the shop where you can see the steps to cut and polish opals and as an added bonus there is a small collection of spiders, lizards, and snakes which you can interact with if you wish.
Because its a family run business, everything is very personal and we can only recomend this place, if you want to by just one of those beautiful stones ore also a ready made piece of jewelry.

I have been more a regular to their shop in Block Arcade, but the newer shops on Collins and Elizabeth streets feature the same range.
The place was packed with chocolate lovers so there was a bit of a wait, but it was worth it.

Its wonderful, very colourful and lots of information about the early days of the gold rush and the role the chinese community played in it.
By the way, look out for the statue of Dr Sun Yat-sen, the founder of modern China, at the front of the building.

Whilst this centre has a great selection of shops for food and groceries, it is also hosting an outdoor cinema.

I was looking for a shop where I could find authentic, handmade and ethically sourced indigenous art and I was very pleasantly surprised to find Australian by Design listed in a leaflet on the free tram.
Trickier you find now, as high rents in the beautiful Block Arcade mean that you need to take the lift opposite Hopetoun Tea Rooms to the 3rd floor.
