What travellers are saying
- Linda E51 contributionsThis was so much fun. The town square was filled with people. There were 50 tables set up by local artists - jewelry makers, woodworkers, painters etc. Every restaurant, bar and store was open til 10:00 or later. Music was playing at the central gazebo. We were there from 5:00 onwards, it was great. A real local thing.Written December 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DoritSunnyvale, CA113 contributionsVery nice beach with some shady area because of the trees. Not too busy. There is a coffee and smoothie place just before you turn into the beach.
No facilities at all. No water now shower head to wash the sand no bathroom. I don’t recommend it to parents with younger kids.
There is an area on the beach where you can book a surfing class. We rented a board for 25 for 4 hours.Written December 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We took surfing lessons here, and the guide was patient and lovely, but they had had a storm a couple of days prior and the sea was brown/green and cloudy, not blue. He said it was normally quite clear. We also did not have the waves he expected or wanted. For a beginner, that was fine. But you could tell he was a bit disappointed in wave quality. But the main thing is that the rocks on shore were a bit of a challenge to navigate carrying a board into the water. And if we did wipe out close to shore then we got a few scrapes on our feet from the rocks.Written August 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were going to be in the Rincon area - and we identified Steps Beach as a potentially good beach.
We drove to Steps Beach which was at the end of a lane. Parking was a bit challenging - on the side of the road but the beach was lovely.
Clean with plenty of sand and some vegetation as the back drop. We had a very nice swim in the cooling sea (on one photo we even had a local couple "photo bomb" us but then tell us after the photo - we had some good laughs and it pointed to me that the locals enjoyed this beach as much as us tourists.. There was a food truck at the entrance to the beach so we went back out for a fruit smoothie. A great beach visit without encroaching development.Written October 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is also a cafe with beautiful views of the shoreline down below - very much a relaxing place to be if the weather cooperates. - Mari M150 Great Wolf Drive4 contributionsAwesome beach for swimming, snorkeling, and paddle boarding. Most of the beach has a rock ledge at the edge of the beach. Enter beach at right of boat ramp as you face the water to enter the sandy part of the beach or bring water shoes. The rock ledge provides a nice habitat for fish, so the snorkeling was very satisfying to this snorkeling newbie. Lots of little fish and occasional large ones. Cool schools of almost transparent fish that have amazing camouflage but you will see them if you wait a bit. (Sorry I don’t know the names of the fish!) The water is pretty shallow, so good for weak swimmers and kids. On this day in April, the surf was extremely calm. Some shade offered by palm trees at edge of beach. Nice restaurant by parking lot. Felt very safe, lots of families.Written April 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Chesea P4 contributionsReally nice wide open beach right in the center of Rincon. Good sized parking lot- we got there around 11 on a Sunday and beach was not crowded at all. Later in the afternoon though the parking lot completely filled up. Lots of shade further up the beach and the water was calm clear and blue and great swimming for our young kids. Walked into town for lunch and then back to the beach for beautiful sunset.Written February 11, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
