What travellers are saying
- ItchyFeetCamarillo, CA11,410 contributionsWe saw on a guided all day trip and stopped to see the relatively new, 4 years, very well done museum. There are several larger exhibits such as a sea plane hanging from the ceiling and a submarine on the floor.
If you are interested in maritime museums this is a good one. Small so not too much time but worth the stop.
Nice cafe and bathrooms too,Written September 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Some excellent exhibits set in the building used by the KGB.Written August 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Adrian C24 contributionsA surprising gem in the old city of Tallinn. This museum has a big selection of chivalry insignia/medals from all over the world. There are some obvious examples from major european powers but also from smaller european countries, and also some from Asia, Africa, Latin America. There is also a free audio guide that you can play on your mobile phone.Written August 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ian A77 contributionsThis church is beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. The breathtaking views you get from the viewing platform are totally amazing.
One very good thing is this church is disabled friendly. Stairs have a stairlift and there's a lift to the viewing platform and all floors for any disabled guests they may cater for.
The only thing missing is a small cafe but don't let that put you off. If you miss this attraction you'll live to regret it.
Loved my visit and the fact that anyone can get around and enjoy the whole lot.Written September 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It presents Tallinn's maritime heritage in an interesting and easy to understand way. Spread over several floors each floor has a different theme , with activitiesWritten July 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Adrian C24 contributionsThe KGB prison cells provide an insight into how life was for political prisoners in the soviet era. The museum is small, but provides a lot of information. I would say that it's something that you can do when you don't have too much time (it takes around 30 minutes) or you are low on energy, but you still want to learn something new. You can even stay in an "isolation" chamber.Written August 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Joseph PLondon, UK98 contributionsGood for the price if you're in Old Town. The ground floor had a good history video, which gave a good insight into the period. 1st floor, good history but a bit scattered around, would have been better if it had more coherance. Cellar had a couple of interesting historical things combined with tonnes of random collections. 2nd floor, only handbags. 3rd floor, didn't go, 18+ and others suggest it's not worth it. All in all, a good museum for 2 floors, which is more than enough for the price. Stayed around 90 minutesWritten October 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sonja MHove, UK725 contributionsThis museum is right in the centre of Tallinn and must to understand the history of the city and the Guild culture. Spread across several floors it has something for you and old . Take time to explore the side exhibitions . Have fun and take a photo in regal robes.Written July 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- sptorKlaipeda, Lithuania95 contributionsNot too big but fun museum themed around electricity production mostly, however other things present too. The first floor or rather basement floor is mostly various interactive exhibits to play with light and sound, as well as optical illusions with explanation of an effects given nearby of each of those exhibit. Also small planetarium is here - you have to pay separately, and space themed corner. Second floor dedicated to electricity, also lightning and static electricity demonstrations performed here. With it's vicinity to Old Town it maybe a nice place to take a breath and rest a bit while kids are checking around, it maybe interesting for all but mostly, I think it is for young schoolchildren up to their early teens.Written July 7, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PamC54Nashville, TN926 contributionsOur son who is a mariner was interested in coming here and enjoyed the hands on exhibits and all the various kinds of boats in the well designed space. The floor was laid out like the ocean with depth markings.
This was kind of on the way back from the Old Town to the Helsinki ferry (with a little help from Uber)Written September 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Probably more interesting for local people who have some experience in the puppetry theatre to have a kind of "I remember..." effect as well (but sure I can be wrong about that). This time a very interesting exhibition about Urmas Alender was presented there but again - I believe it is for people who remember this actor and singer.Written July 13, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TheDumbuserDudelange, Luxembourg70 contributionsNice museum and interesting exhibition. It's a very small museum and even when having a bigger interest in the art of photography it's a max 20 minutes look around. So you can consider it as a pro or con.Written February 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Fiona G98 contributionsWe really enjoyed our visit to this hidden gem - the director of the museum and the creator of many of the exhibits showed us around and shared the history of the museum itself and the different dolls. It was a unique experience and one we would definitely recommend to visitors to TallinWritten February 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 1777NTThirsk, UK324 contributionsI had not noticed this was a museum, it was close to my accommodation so walked over to look at it. Interesting exhibits based on Estonian and former Soviet architecture and architects, models, working drawings (pre CAD). The whole area was former docks and warehouses, most of which have been demolished and the whole site being redeveloped, this building was a former salt store and obviously worthy of being retained. The upper two floors were not in use, I guess they were changing exhibitions over winter.
The basement was interesting, mainly for children, with hands on gizmos, but the floor was polished stainless steel which gave interesting photos.Written December 5, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Nice architecture. Thought it was just gonna be a small exhibition, but there are several rooms covering monetary history in general along with Estonian money. Also some interactive features. You can play chess with a computer, press some buttons, open drawers, try some weights used in the past... And it's free entry. So perfect if you want to get out of the rain or just looking for something free and interesting. (You can the rest of Tallinn's main attractions with the Tallinn Card) I think that even your children might find it fun. Spent there about 45 minutes but could have stayed for at least another half an hour.Written August 25, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
