- alina09marusKyiv, Ukraine1 contributionOld Tallinn fascinates with its medieval atmosphere! Narrow streets, old buildings, charming cafes and incredible views from the towers - every step is filled with history and beauty.Written September 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Patrick BKillarney, Ireland337 contributionsI finished the half marathon and was looking for something to break up the rest of the afternoon. Tallinn hasn't a huge amount to do (but is a nice small City).
The museum is 20 euro admission. One hangar type area with the centerpiece being the submarine.
There are a lot of aquatic/ nautical displays. Then there are the naval aspects. I think if you were from a country that had a history in these matters you'd enjoy it; however, I'm from Ireland.
The submarine is interesting once you go inside it. Other than that, the museum is okay for about an hour. I was annoyed that they failed to mention / honour John Holland on their storyboard about the birth of submarines. He being the inventor of the modern day submarine (and Irish). I think they need to have a look at the accuracy of same. Will award it 3.5 / 5.Written September 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - B KGurugram (Gurgaon), India186 contributionsThe Town Square is like the heart of the Old Town. Surrounded by beautiful al- fresco restaurants on all sides, it has a very picturesque setting. The centre if square has many different types of free seating. In beautiful weather, its fun to just laze around and soak in the ambience. Many streets lead to and from this square. There's an old town hall building too which we didnt visit from inside but it has a very interesting spire.Written July 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ian A60 contributionsThis is a most beautiful park. The park has everything and the flowers are beautiful with complimentary colours. It's a great place to spend a day relaxing.Written September 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Stefanie HLincoln, NE1,746 contributionsTallinn has a wonderfully preserved series of medieval towers and walls, and they are all very easy to find in the historic center. The entry into the center takes you through a beautiful set of walls, along with the Fat Margaret tower. Highly recommend a walk along the walls!Written July 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Rasa KKaunas, Lithuania187 contributionsIt's a good place to visit when going for underground tunnels. Here you can find a good exhibition and how the tunnels evolved during the years.
The upper wall museum is not worth visiting.Written March 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. In the evenings, the exhibitions and shop are closed, and you don't get a free welcome drink as promised. During the day, everything is open and the experience is far more enjoyable.Written August 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DevonRedTrusham, UK687 contributionsNicely renovated market with great food options and interesting souvenir shops.
However, some of the antique shops sold fascist memorabilia that celebrated Hitler and Stalin, which I thought was odd and disturbing. Mugs with a swastika on them and tee shirts celebrating Hitler's 'Tour of Europe' were openly on sale. The pathetic disclaimer 'For private collectors only' is not a justification for profiting from genocide.
Visit the market to enjoy the food, but give the top floor a miss.Written September 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are some obvious examples from major european powers but also from smaller european countries, and also some from Asia, Africa, Latin America. There is also a free audio guide that you can play on your mobile phone.Written August 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - B KGurugram (Gurgaon), India186 contributionsThe medieval feel is the highlight of the street.
It's bound to have a charm for history buffs. The stone walls and the paved streets look like you have walked into period era.Written July 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It’s a large well preserved building and apparently gothic in style. It’s a key landmark as its tower helps folks to navigate to the centre of the old town.Written August 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Once you get to the market and big crazy bus it’s very quiet and feels a bit off but keep walking to the best area with lots of art shops, thrift shops and places to eat/drink. Great place to spend a couple of hours.Written June 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Beatriz MDüsseldorf, Germany5,677 contributionsMust see not only the Pirita beach but also the ruins of the church which are basically in front of the beach, it is like a 5 min walk. We arrived there using the bus from the center of Tallinn. It was very easy and fast, ticket costs 1.50 for non residents and can be paid with any contact less card like VISA Mastercard on bus (usually the first validating machine in entrance of the bus).Written April 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ian A60 contributionsThis museum is absolutely fascinating. All about the human body from being born death. Each room had exhibits of each organ, bone, tissues. Even had body parts in what I thought was Formaldehyde just like they do for Medical Students. The games and quizzes were very informative and educational.
I would recommend this museum to everyone including families with young children.Written September 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
