Compared to other Old Towns, Tallinn's was relatively compact. Our walking tour was self-guided by following the "Visit Tallinn" tourist map which showed some 27 attractions. Although we viewed several only from their exteriors, we were able to experience Tallinn Old Town in a single day. Admittedly, extending our walking tour into a second day would have been more relaxing.

We saw on a guided all day trip and stopped to see the relatively new, 4 years, very well done museum. There are several larger exhibits such as a sea plane hanging from the ceiling and a submarine on the floor.
If you are interested in maritime museums this is a good one. Small so not too much time but worth the stop.
    Nice cafe and bathrooms too,

If you go to Tallinn, you will end up passing through or by the square several times during your visit as it is so central to the Old Town. The main feature in the square in the Town Hall. A hive of activity in the evening, mainly with the restaurants and their outdoor seating. For photos, I found just before sunrise the best time to go as the street lights and the flood lights are still on.

While steering totally clear of any travel to Russia, we thoroughly enjoyed visiting the historic Alexander Nevsky Cathedral from the Tsarist Russian era. Dominated by its five distinctive onion domes, the Cathedral itself was visually very striking. Its beautiful interior was absolutely stunning and provided such a contrast to most other cathedral interiors. Our visit was definitely time well spent.

During our Tallinn trip we visited this attraction. This park is beautiful area almost in the centre of Tallinn. The plants are shaped very nice. In this park also placed Estonian President residence. This Friday night it was light show in this park. Incredibly amazing!

This was an excellent art museum. There is a fair amount of modern art which I am mostly not a fan of, but there was a great collection of Soviet era art and an even better collection of 19th and early 20th century Estonian art. There were a couple of good collections of Surrealist art too. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of art and presentation. It is a world class art museum, well worth visiting.

Tallinn has a wonderfully preserved series of medieval towers and walls, and they are all very easy to find in the historic center. The entry into the center takes you through a beautiful set of walls, along with the Fat Margaret tower. Highly recommend a walk along the walls!

I've been to the Teletorn twice: once during the day and once in the evening (for a discounted price). In the evenings, the exhibitions and shop are closed, and you don't get a free welcome drink as promised. During the day, everything is open and the experience is far more enjoyable.

Well worth a visit for the cafes or food places at least many of which have vegan options by the way. The rest of the market, other than the supermarket in the basement, is very unusual. One can get almost anything there. The clothing store on the top floor in particular will puzzle you.

Nice place, beautiful area, very well preserved, transmits old centuries spirit.
Cannot be missed while in Old Town of Tallinn.
The fee for museum visit seems to be a little too high for what it really offers, so we choose not to. But we enjoyed the whole outside area as well.

This is a must visit site in Tallinn if you can climb the tower stairs.  The view from the top is incredible.  It will definitely get to anyone afraid of heights as the top is a narrow walkway around the outside of the copper spire on top of the roof.  These are some of the best city views from a church bell tower in all of Europe.  I climb lots of bell towers and this one is one of my top three.

Beautiful walk around Kadriorg Palace and the surrounding parklands - all free. About a 30 min walk from the Old Town in Tallinn, and about 10 mins walk from the cost. Beautiful gardens and architecture.

A surprising gem in the old city of Tallinn. This museum has a big selection of chivalry insignia/medals from all over the world. There are some obvious examples from major european powers but also from smaller european countries, and also some from Asia, Africa, Latin America. There is also a free audio guide that you can play on your mobile phone.

I went there at 05:30 in the morning to have it to myself, so I could photograph it with the streetlights still on. That is because in the evenings the restaurants on the street are open a little late, or many people are passing by.
