- Vicki R2 contributionsIt's been a number of years since I've been inside the Visitors Center. I usually just hike around but had my niece and nephew with us and they had not been inside. Was great to look through the high power binocular to see the sheep out on the mountain. Couldn't see them with the naked eye. Loved the short movie that was playing. I wanna see it again so I can make note of the gal that was weaving as I forgot as soon as I walked out of the theater. Hahaha! I highly recommend a visit inside if you haven't in awhile like me. A lot to see and learnWritten November 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BulandawaazWashington DC, DC10 contributionsThis is an absolute must visit museum. The collection here is easily worth $50 million, and all those Involved have done a phenomenal job of curatimg, restoring not just the vehicles but also finding matching, original period clothing and attire..many times matching the exact color of the car!
So many knowledgeable staff here, many spots to sit and admire the vehicles.Written March 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This was by far one of the best excursions we have ever been on. A smaller vessel picked us up from the cruise ship and as the cruise ship continued down the Fjord, we were able to cruise up close and personal to one of the glaciers. This was during early spring and there were so many Harbour seals on the ice, many with new babies. The view of the glacier that close is absolutely breathtaking and we were able to enjoy glacier ice margarita as well! The views were awe inspiring and we even got to see mountain goats and a bear. This is definitely an excursion you don't want to miss.Written October 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ed1976EKy9 contributionsOverall this was a good activity. We saw most of the animals and got to see the bears being fed. Nice way to spend an afternoon.Written March 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- cygnets58Topeka, KS2 contributionsHaving the lucky clear viewing of Denali x2 was amazing. As my group traveled south on the train we could still catch clear glimpses almost down to Anchorage.Written December 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stewarts Vacation1,035 contributionsIt was great to have two park rangers board our vessel to guide us through Glacier Bay. Their knowledge of and passion for the area was clearly evident. Only 0.1% of the over a 1000 glaciers in the Bay, are tide water glaciers. We were taken to one, Marjorie Glacier at the head of Tarr Inlet. Sadly, we did not see any ice calving. It was very sobering to see and hear about the rapid retreat of many of the glaciers. Not all cruises have permission to enter Glacier Bay, so check the itinerary before you book.Written December 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lots of awesome items, but the most amazing thing to me was the dress made of salmon vertebrae….beautiful! - GoVols79Chattanooga, TN2,894 contributionsOur family loves visiting National Park sites and Kenai Fjords was a memorable one. We took a Major Marine boat tour to see wildlife and glaciers. Our kids completed the Junior Ranger program at the visitor center and were able to earn their badge. We also did some hiking at the Exit Glacier area which was very enjoyable and easy to get around. Someday I would love to return and do the Harding Icefield trail.Written October 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NewsByScottPhoenix, AZ251 contributionsWe were here in March and it is really the only warm indoor activity you can do besides drinking. Yes it is pricey to go but considering what they do for rescue, rehab and research we believe it is money well spent. Plus based on seafood costs in restaurants I’m sure it is costly to feed these animals. They have a good selection of Alaskan wildlife to view here. They also have a variety of touch tanks. Every worker we encountered was friendly and engaging and they all appeared to love what they do! It seems more geared towards kids but we middle age adults left happyWritten March 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - stryjeffBlandford Forum, UK20 contributionsViews are unbelievable - serene and majestic. Visited on a cruise which would not be our‘thing’ but to see where a glacier falls into the sea can only be viewed by boat.Written October 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RCarabettaNew Rochelle, NY18 contributionsWe concluded our 12 day trip to Alaska with a visit to the Anchorage Museum, which is well worth the visit. However, I would advise anyone considering the trip to visit the museum first. It's a great primer into the land, the history, and the people. There are so many highlights to Alaska its impossible to capture the scale and scope. Buy a guidebook, get advice, and plan accordingly. If you're even remotely attracted to the outdoors and wildlife you can't go wrong. The scenery is spectacular and the wildlife is abundant. But be advised; be prepared to be flexible for weather conditions and travel changes. Plan for "what if" options because there's always something else to do, and plans don't always go as expected.Written September 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
